Not entirely excited about this. He’s been hurt for two years and is currently on rehab for a wrist injury. Yay. He hasn’t come close to living up to the hype. I hope we didn’t give up much for him.

He’s a three time All Star, Silver Slugger with two top 12 MVP finishes, was a ROY runner up and has been invited to the HR Derby.  What else does he need to do? Part the Red Sea?

I think you guys are severely underrating Adley. He’s been hurt this year but he’s a very good player and a huge upgrade at a position of need. I need to see what the prospect package is, but Adley himself is a good potential buy low candidate.

He did part his hair and a group of kids at the bottom of the hill while cardboard sliding at the MLB Little League Classic a few years ago. The O's beat the Sox and Adley was the interview darling of ESPN... or was that MTV?

One report says Valera and Primera. An injured pitcher and a guy barely out of FCL?

If that is it, I'm on board. Worth the gamble. No need to rush him back. Let him DH to start and ease him in.

This is about what I expected Jeffers to cost, and we get another year.

Just wanted to share some updates on where this is at, as far as the staff can tell:

  • The deal is, in principle, agreed upon. Names that have been frequently mentioned: Anthony Eyanson and Franklin Primera.
  • The medicals are the hold up. Rutschman is currently on the IL with a wrist injury.
  • IF the medicals fail, that does not mean the deal has to fall through. An alternative prospect package could be in play.
  • This isn't stopping the Sox from talking to other teams about deals. Zach Neto's name has come up repeatedly since last night.

Eyanson? That's gross. I hope not.

That is my reaction as well, but such is the price of doing business within the division. There's an AL East tax being applied here, for sure.

It's the trade deadline tax, not necessarily the "division" tax IMO.

A .250 hitter on the IL?  Don't the RS have that position covered?

In 2021, the Sox big deadline acquisition was a .250 hitter on the IL.  And folks have lamented losing him ever since…

I'd pay that price.

Yankees were trying to get Adley and were offering Elmer Rodriguez.

Elmer can only be traded for catchers, per his contract…
