The topsy-turvy season of the Boston Red Sox took another turn when left fielder Roman Anthony was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a sprained right wrist.

Catcher-infielder Mickey Gasper was called up from Triple-A Worcester to replace Anthony on the 26-man roster

Anthony was injured during a checked swing Monday in a 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. In the time since, Anthony has been receiving treatment and the wrist was showing improvement, but the Red Sox decided to take the safer route and put Anthony on the shelf for a brief period and not rush him back into the lineup or leave the roster shorthanded for any further games.

Anthony's performance at the plate could also use some time off. The left-handed-hitting slugger has put together a .229/.354/.321 slash line with one homer and five RBIs in 30 games. That is a stark contrast to what he did last year after making his MLB debut. In 71 games in 2025, Anthony had a slash line of .292/.396/.463 with eight homers and 32 RBIs. He was MLB's No. 1 prospect when he was promoted last year.

Gasper has a .296/.429/.519 slash line in 28 games at Worcester with six homers and 27 RBIs. Gasper made his MLB debut with the Red Sox in 2024, playing in 13 games, going 0-for-18, then was traded to the Minnesota Twins and played in 45 games last year. Between the two seasons, he has a .133/.250/.195 with two homers and 11 RBIs. The Red Sox picked him up this offseason after twice being designated for assignment.

This guy is officially made of crystal. He has had injuries in every part of his body at this point.

Once RA returns who expects him to be a  hot hitter. Why would time off get him ready to hit ?

Just read a report that he’s taken a step back in his rehabilitation. This may be more than first thought. He’s already given Campbell 60m before he should have. I’m wondering if Roman Anthony is going to be worth what he was given.
not trying to be negative but I thought both deals were too soon. I wanted to see how the league adjusted to both and then how they adjusted back before offering any money. Those two guys didn’t have enough time in the league to really gauge how they would perform. Both really haven’t shown me much.

I am also concern with the injuries. He is too young to be having all of these issues. Before he got hurt last year is what the Sox need from him. If the Sox can get a healthy Anthony and trade for someone who can hit for power and play 3B, their pitching and D can get them a wild card in a weak AL.

Anthony came clean today, and said he has a partially torn ligament in his ring finger. Sam on the other had come out, and said it was a sprain, and the imaging  had been clean.🤭

President Kennedy speaks with a strained tongue.

He has a partially torn figment of the imagination, right at the base of the left fork from overuse waggling it at the media and fandom.

Yes, but is he that stupid, or does he think we’re that stupid?🤔

Both. Because he's stupid, he thinks we're stupid as well.

And to be honest, people do generally listen to him and believe the nonsense he has to say. For example, he said "it was all Craig's decision to fire Cora" right after Breslow said it was a group decision.

Sam must be a good ass kisser, and yes man, or have something on JH to keep his job this long.

He is JH's eyes and ears and the ultimate yes man.

A sprained ligament and a partially torn ligament overlap.  Thats why medical professionals use a grading system of 1-to-4.

1 - minimal present structural damage, no tear - okay to call a sprain but you would probably say small sprain or minor sprain
2 - slight stress damage, slight tear - okay to call a sprain or a minor tear

3 - significant stress damage, partial tear. Significant tear but not complete - you would call this a "severe sprain" or a tear

4- complete rip - misleading to call a sprain, you would call it a "complete tear"

Think like a rubber band.  A stretch resulting by a snap back with no structural damage is no injury thats what a rubber band is designed to do. . But if that band/ligament stretches too far, and its now compromised, maybe its looser, but no rip can be seen, thats a 1.  A slight rip at the edge would be a 2.  A more severe rip would be a 3.  A complete rip would be a 4.

So Sam probably described Romans injury as a 1 or 2 when really its looking like its a 2.5.  But thats not wrong, just a consequence from using laymen/non-exact colloquial terminology.  Sam prob could have said "significant sprain" instead of "sprain" but thats not really something to call him a clown over.

And also, it was Craig who fired Cora.  So in that exchange with them contradicting each other, it was Breslow who is the clown.

All of this is to say that Sam Kennedy can be a clown.  But Breslow is full Bozo.  Hes the real clown.

Is Bloom Snowball? DD is Mr Jones?

Benjamin is Story and Duran is Mollie.

Neither, actually.  He doesn't think, so he is neither dumb nor smart.  My wife always questions me about one of my friends, asking if he thinks we are stupid enough to believe his BS.  I tried to explain that he doesn't think that deeply.  He just says things at random.

Probably, but given the RS history of describing injuries as minor, and then losing guys for the season, I don't feel like giving any of them the benefit of the doubt.
