Max Fried might be a pretty nice get for them.  Bellinger might be a good move too.

The thing is they just don't stop making significant moves.

I mentioned those two moves, as well as the nice addition of Devin Williams. They've added more than we have but lost more, too.

Soto>>>> Bellinger

Fried>> Cortes

D Williams <?> Holmes/Kahnle/Poteet

Goldschmidt > Rizzo

Alex Jackson <?> Trevino/Narvaez

___ <<< Torres/Berti

___<<< Verdugo

They will likely add more, and I said I think they will still add more than we do, but they are still at a net negative, and they are done at 1B and probably OF, at a net loss.

The Sox:

Crochet >>>> Pivetta

Chapman & Wilson <<< Jansen & Martin

Sandoval <?> Chase Anderson, Keller & Co.

Narvaez << D Jansen but maybe > McGuire, who was with the Sox more than Jansen was in 2014.

_____<<< O'Neill (but I have faith in Anthony, Campbell and our Rafaela back to the OF to cover this one.)

I'm not saying we've done better than NY with additions. My point was that their subtractions are more valuable than ours are.

Both teams have a ways to go to be a net plus, on paper, over 2024.

If ownership was serious about competing, we should have beaten the Yankees out for fried!!!!!

This is not the front office that wins bidding wars. This is the one who very publicly comes in 2nd or 3rd and say to fans at least we tried! Red Sox are a total joke ever since they lost their balls and sold off Mookie Betts for an awful return.

The curse of Babe Ruth has been replaced by the curse of Mookie Betts.

Getting multiple years of Verdugo and Wong for one year of Betts was actually a win. 🙎‍♂️🔫

The problem isn't emojis, which some people like to collect and display, to share with others.

But it's a blight on society when people weaponize them...

I didn’t know there was any other use?

I It's not lost, on this poster, the whole 1918 Babe Ruth, connection with 2018, Mookie Betts.

Also, the fact the Sox won in:

1903

1912

1915

1916

1918, then never again the REST OF THE CENTURY.

And then won in:

2004

2007

2013

2018

Hope we aren't looking at the same, similar curse for letting go of a Generational player based on money....

Can we please not solicit a curse back into existence.  I don't plan on living 80 years longer.

The only curse was us having to deal with Dan Shaughnessy.

Wow nice research there. That makes the feeling of the Betts curse seem very real, especially if the Red Sox are saddled with the same cheapskate owners for the foreseeable future.

Are we really struggling to beat out Detroit for Bergman???

Breslow, rightly, doesn't want him for six years.

I would much rather Arenado...With Yoshida involved in the trade to match salaries somewhat.  Will take a few prospects to sweeten the pot for sure...Don't like all the stories I've heard about bregman and his relative struggles with lefties anyhow, spoiling the point.

Bregman was pretty good vs LHPs, until the last 2 years, when he has had reverse splits.

Arenado would be nice, if we could dump Yoshida. I might even give Mayer & Yoshi for Arenado and a catcher with no money added.

Do we really believe bres-slow is trying to include yoshida in various trades????

He's probably asked, but heard loud No's.

I think his name might only come up, when taking back a really big contract.

Arenado is owed 74 million over 3 years. He would be a goodx fit for us but are the Cardinals looking for young pitching and would they eat some of the remaining contract. Since Yoshida has value, but is not a good fit for us, we would like to include him in a trade, but he too has a   big remaining contract. Maybe Fitts and Bleis for  Arenado with cash or a solid catching prospect.

No way am I even contemplating giving up Mayer in that sort of deal.

I want us rid of the Yoshi contract but not at that cost.

Arenado is almost 34, his bat is declining rapidly and he has an AAV of 30.56 million for another 3 years.  His defense is still very good.

We'd dump Yoshida but our payroll would go up by an AAV of 12.56 million.

Giving up Mayer to make this happen is just way too much.

Unless that's a great young catcher you have in mind.

If St. Louis is trading Arenado to dump his salary, why would they take back Yoshida “to match salaries”?

Well Hernandez is off the table. Despite our clear need for a good RHB the Flops were apparently never close to signing him.
Henry has become a disgusting owner. It’s obvious that he couldn’t care less about presenting a good product for the loyal fans.
I am quite sure we aren’t getting anyone of quality to meet our needs.

The next few months will say a lot.  But we still can't see any tangible signs that they're back spending like a big market team again.

It appears the Mets are making a run at Bergman!  The last three years, Bergman cannot hit left handed pitching either!
I think if we got a closer and a right handed hitting catcher, we would be a playoff team next year
