i'd sign Burnes but not Bergman.  we already have a 1B and 3B

The idea would be to trade Casas for pitching (like Crochet.) and improve the defense, so the pitching doesn't have to get 4 outs every other inning.

I'm feeling really bummed about our 2025 chances. I still like how we are set up for the future, but until we take some plunges to fill some major gaps, as in pitching, we may never reach glory, again.

I've asked this many times, over recent years....

How Soon Is Now?

It’s only December 10.

I get the idea that we have some massive talent in the pipeline. Sure, nothing is guaranteed, but we can only play 9 everyday players, at a time.

We need to choose wisely, but we need to choose.

Choose who to trust and build around, and who to trade to fill other needs. It need not be for a 1 or 2 year player that limits our window. We can trade a few 5 year players for one 3-5 year player and still be about the future, while also making a push for the now.

I know how to tell time.

I also know when I see the same movie ten times in a row.

They'll probably end the off season with Eovaldi and call it a success.

Hell, just let the top 4 prospects start the season. It'll at least raise NESN's poor ratings.

If the SOX decide to leave Devers at third, it's probably just as well they didn't sign Fried. He being a ground ball pitcher.

The date doesn't matter much when free agents are signing at such a rapid pace.  Soto, Adames, Fried, Snell, Eovaldi, Severino, and others are already gone.

that is not going to happen.  Casas is under control for 4 more seasons and Devers will whne if he is bumped off 3B. I don't trade any of our top 4 prospects for Crochet either. Sign Burnes as he is the only good SP left on the FA market.

The premise was signing Bregman.... not to play SS.

Eovaldi back to the Rangers 3/75.  Pitching is expensive.

And the Sox are a Rob Deer in the Headlights.

It is looking like the last several off seasons where all the big names tick off the board and the Red Sox are sitting with an empty basket and scurry for a few scraps.

You do realize it’s December 10th, right?

I've been typing this point for a month. The Yankees' infield defense isn't any better than Boston's, so good luck with the most expensive lefthander in history.

New York can afford (or isn't afraid) to throw stupid money away. Getting the ghost of Arenado will only help the D for a year or two.

But the only way Breslow and Co. come out of this looking good is if they actually land a swing-and-miss starter -- or two -- to the rotation.

Ya, it's only Dec. 11th, but there's also a limited number of power arms available, unless you want to trade the Number One prospect in baseball or the Minor League Player of the Year...

It's not much consolation to those who actually believed the Sox might acquire Soto and/or Fried among others.

Supposedly they're turning to Burnes now but we're already hearing they're not very confident about landing him LOL

The Sox keep coming up short.  Starting to feel kind of habitual...

Anyone who actually believed the Red Sox had a chance of landing Soto were not only duped, but bought some rotten cheese Once Again.🤭🙈

The funniest thing (in a sick way) was probably the comments like this I read when the Mets signed Soto:

"Hey, that means we can sign BOTH Fried and Burnes now!"

The Soto "chase" was a colorful distraction, but I'm right back in the state of mind that this Sox organization is spectacularly dysfunctional.

The offer they made to Fried was reportedly far short of the Yankees bid.  They either have no clue about the market or it's all part of a bizarre exercise to try to fool the fans.

To be expected. The only person who should be shocked here is Brock.

They have struggled to understand the "market" ever since the dumb "no pitchers over 30" nonsense.

Word is... Arenado would okay a deal to any of the Angels, Dodgers, Padres, Phillies, Mets, or Red Sox.

I know the plan for STL is to cut ties and save some money as they rebuild, while trying to stay somewhat entertaining, so including Yoshida in the deal greatly reduces the "savings they are looking for, but I think we have to try and make it work. Either pay as much of Yoshida's deal as necessary or add another decent, but not top 5-6 prospect to the package.

I have not heard Sonny Gray's name mentioned as trade fodder, but he is a year older and still owed $65M/2. Maybe including him make it happen.

Plan A: Yoshida + $5M a year and 2 from Cespedes, Bleis, Jh Garcia, Meidroth, Fitts or Sandlin for Arenado. (Maybe 2 from Cespedes, Beis and Garcia plus one from the other three.

Plan B: Ask for Arenado & Gray for Yoshida (no money) and Mayer plus one of two from the 6 mentioned above.
