U think 3?

I could see one top 8 prospect plus some ancillary pieces. Maybe a gift basket from Harry and David. And the Cross matching pen and pencil set (yes, inscribed. Don’t be an unwashed heathen.)

Nobody is giving the brewers a top 50 prospect for one year. We also have no ideal how Milwaukee values our guys. Are they high on Yorke? Zanetllo? Maybe they really really like Perales. I should probably lower my projection to top 5.

For one year of a guy who is going to free agency in a year.

3 years of Chris Sale got you two. 1 year doesn’t get you one. But hey who knows, maybe the Breweries find someone desperate

"Got you two" is underselling what Sale was traded for. Moncada was the #1 prospect in baseball. Kopech was a top 30 prospect.

If they were ranked on today's SoxProspects, Moncada would be 1 and Kopech would be 3rd or 4th. Anthony, Mayer or Teel would get the phone hung up on you for any conversation surrounding Burnes even if they were able to sign an extension beforehand.

Houck and someone ranked 11-15?

A fair-value offer is unlikely to land one year of Corbin Burnes.

Given the current market for starting pitching, the best offer for Burnes should easily exceed fair value as measured by some contemporary metrics.

However, the market will ultimately set the price if the Brewers trade Burnes.

It’s not a bad offer, and it seems fair, but only Matt Arnold can really answer about something that specific…

BTV accepts Duran for Burnes straight up. Slight overpay for Boston

Milwaukee wouldn’t accept that. They’re overloaded with young outfielders…

1- Have patience. It really is a virtue. And a lack of patience often leads to big mistakes. 2- Do not trade Duran. He is poised to become a major player on this ballclub. 3- If the top starting pitchers cost more than you want to spend, keep on building the bullpen. That is often where games are won or lost these days.

Giotto lost 15 games last yr and had era barely under 5.00. Seems perfect for the Red Sox’

He had a horrific last 3 months after he was traded but he was a decent pitcher for the White Sox for several years. He’s worth a risk for a one year deal with maybe some vesting options after that. He’s only 29.

Unlike some of the never weres we’re kicking the tires on, he at least has a past.

You won't be able to convince that one.

I find right now the two most agreeable are dgalehouse and Old Red.

Plenty of options remain. Most teams are in the same boat as Boston - not much done so far.

Pitchers and catchers don’t report for 7 more weeks anyway.

Unfortunately, he's a man without a defensive home in Boston. His arm sucks and he doesn't track balls well enough to play CF. If his only home is LF and I think most of us would rather an aging Teoscar go there.

I don't like you either.

I think Giolito is fixable. I'm not sure the Red Sox are the right team to fix him.

sure let's sign Teoscar to a 3-4 yr deal so it will look to fans that the team is spending money. Why the need for him after we have already added the juicer?

I don't see a universe where you can justify an aging Teoscar under Duran unless you're flipping Duran for high level controllable pitching.

It's fine to stay patient and optimistic, obviously.

OTOH I don't think it's irrational to not have a lot of faith in the Sox ownership and front office any more. At the very least they continue to be a PR disaster. They obviously had a lot of trouble attracting very many legit CBO candidates. They end up hiring a guy who seems to have an awful lot in common with the guy he replaced, including the fact he has no experience for the position. They send out messages about being full throttle and how it's time to focus on getting the team into October, and then they don't even sign a single one of the top free agent starting pitchers (if McAdam and others are right about not being in on Montgomery or Snell). I can see not paying the price for Moto, but we can't even come up with 75 or 80 million for a Gray or an E-Rod? And Montgomery is out of our range too? Are you f***ing kidding me?

Relax it just takes CraigSLOW a while to get there. Look how long it took him to name a pitching coach even though he’d been mentioned weeks before. Still got weeks to go before ST starts.

Sam: "Come on, Executive VP Committee, there has to be one of you at this entire room-length rectangular card table who can sign us a pitcher who used to be good, before Winter Weekend."

Guy in a tie who's been on the payroll for decades: "Hey, what about Giolito? He sucked last year, so we should be able to get him at really good value -- short-term, bounce-back arm."

Analytical analyzer: "Gave up the most home runs in the AL, so any improvement at all would make Craig look good, too... that is, if Bailey can fix him."

Andrew: "Montgomery's wife's interning near Fenway, studying to be a vet or something -- if we hire her to fix him, maybe Jordan would sign here, too."

Brez: "I glean a different calculus, a transactional transmutation of the traditional three-way tryst... at least fans won't expect surprise litters of puppies."

Papi: "This is our f***ing dog pound."

BTV has Duran valued highly enough to bring us a really good pitcher, but I agree.

BTV is as useless as the speculation on here. I’m sure the scouting report on Duran is based off BTV. As for speculation, which runs rampant on here like some even speculating that the Yam Man would be in the Red Sox rotation.🙈. Of course we can never forget the speculation of all the BTV suggested trades for the Red Sox on here that never happen either, but fear not as your speculation is last to none.
