I'll start out the season following them. But if things go south early, it'll really be hard to stay interested. There are actually some positive signs on the horizon, but the malfeasance with the rotation continues to deeply frustrate.

I’m thinking there will be enough interesting things about this years team to keep me watching, even if we lose 90 games.

Obviously, things do not look too good, on paper or on the field. The best hope is simply that it is baseball. There is plenty of luck and randomness in the sport. There are always players and teams that exceed expectations. The Sox do have some talent. It's not a terrible team. Maintaining health will be important, as it will be for the competition as well. One good thing is that the relatively easy early schedule could result in getting off to a good start. That could help build a winning attitude , confidence and momentum. That being said, I would not advise betting the farm on the Sox winning the division.

I do agree with every word here.

But I think the overall lack of effort from the front office is still disappointing. And the only saving grace for the FO is there are still a few free agents left capable of making an impact…

But there a strong sense that none will sing with us.

I'm just anxious to see who belongs and who doesn't.

As starters (Bello is in, good or bad)

Kutter

Houck

Whitlock

Position players (Devers/Casas/Yoshida/Story are 'in', Wong is in at least as a backup)

Grissom

Duran, on the cusp, I think he's a done deal

Rafaela

Abreau

That will keep me interested...

But it's another question when it comes to 'stars', right now I only see Devers.

and as a Red Sox fan, i don't think i've ever been less excited about an upcoming season thanks to John Henry and his ******** team.

Henry has shown himself to be a huge *******.

Will watch more games early, but more minor league games as the season wears on most likely.

i've got season tickets for our local AA team in Little Rock. unfortunately, they aren't a Red Sox affiliate.

That's because everyone's sick of "Sweet Caroline." Time for a new Neil singalong.

Don't let it bring you down... find someone who's turning, and you will come around.

They have a far better chance of finishing last than first

If the cost of this dismal season will be the retiring of that HIDEOUS song, this years-long nightmare will have been worth it.

I just have the Marlins and Mets A affiliates. The product is fine, but it’s hard to really follow other orgs. I pay a little attention to the Marlins.

Not a chance. You are cursed with its existence.

Henry has shown himself to be a huge *******.

He keeps himself amused. Imagine having the power to affect the overall moods of an entire region of the United States of Vespucci.

Twenty years he was responsible for the sheer joy of generations of families throughout New England.

Now, he can claim to have brought prosperity to local economies in at least six states -- by driving untold thousands away from the Red Sox... and instead to beaches, concerts, other sports, and most definitely other TV channels sponsored by other products.

and Vegas agrees. for winning the WS, the oddsmakers are almost unanimous in having the Dodgers, Braves and Astros at the top. and DD's Phillies are usually picked 6th. Red Sox are anywhere from 15 to 19 -and behind every other team in the AL east. nice job Henry. Vegas says your team sucks ass.

Daughter is a huge Cubs’ fans. I plan on going several times already anyway. And I do watch their games with her.

Plus the Other Sox are always dirt cheap and never sell out, unless the team is winning, which is not expected this season. Very easy to get good seats even on game day…

Actually 15th seems high. I mean, they did have a record roughly indicative of league average last year. But given their division, the chances of even making the postseason should be less than that.

That’s why I don’t like Vegas odds as predictors of MLB. Certain teams have their odds artificially reduced by the amount of bets placed on them so as to minimize payouts just in case…

Not mine. Whenever that tune comes up, I turn the sound off, just as I do when facing any other variant of chauvinistic drivel (e.g., the military-happy Star-whatever or, the absolute worst, God Bless Amerika.)

I keep the sound off for almost the whole game.

Another year to follow the draft…

Watching the draft, the minors and the mid season trades we make may be the high points of this season, but I do think there are plenty of sub plots to generate enough interest in the big club games:

Bello

Casas

Grissom

Devers

Story

Yoshida

Duran, Rafaela and Abreu

Wong, McGuire and maybe Teel

Crawford & Wink

Houck & Whitlock

Jansen & Martin

Campbell, Slaten and other RPers

We can still see some fun, this year, but the wins may be too few and far between for most fans to enjoy much of anything.

Maybe we can look forward to a midseason swap where we send Henry to the Mets for Steve Cohen?

i'd rather swap Henry and Brez for Mark Walter and Andrew Friedman -smart people that want to succeed.

To me it's all coming down to whether they sign Monty or not. If they do I'll happy and if they don't (and the deal isn't crazy) I'll be pissed.
