Winkowski has turned into a nice BP piece but I sure don't see much in Bernandino

He's done well for us, so far.

He may be a fluke, but what is not to like, so far?

We need to cut the cord on Jacques-- like yesterday.

Call up Walter or Sale, if he's ready.

Llovera should go, too.

Llovera is a DFA candidate. Jacques will be demoted…

agreed. he had a bit of a rough day today but overall, he's been a pleasant surprise.

Cut the cord on both.

We have Story & Sale coming off the 60, so we need two slots on the 40.

I'd DFA both, but since Reyes is out of options, maybe he will be one of the two to go.

I like the job Winkowski and Crawford have done this year!

Two of the exciting things to happen this season for the Sox.

Also, Duran, Casas, Wong, Yoshida, Martin and to some extent Pivetta and Jansen.

Too bad this might be Turner's last season with the Sox. It's probably Paxton's last season, too.

I hope we can cobble together a comeback, this year, and I still think we can, but we need the injured guys back soon, and without a long adjustment period. The clock is ticking. Tomorrow's game would be a good time to go on a long win streak.

Bloom, or probably more accurately, fsg missed the boat with trying to push in the transfer window for one, or possibly two genuine players...... They just don't have that killer instinct to win.

Maybe the Red Sox should bring Larry Lucchino back again to run things again.

bb-ref '23 splits for three of the relievers the Red Sox have used in the first two Toronto showdowns:

BA w RISP -- Jacques .458, Bleier .429, Llovera .231

BA in High Leverage -- Llovera .750, Bleier .458, Jacques .125

BA on Ground Balls -- Jacques .333, Llovera .273, Bleier .259

BA on Fly Balls -- Llovera .571, Jacques .417, Bleier .304

In contrast, Chris Martin: BA w RISP .152, High Lev .224, Ground Balls .154, Fly Balls .191

Only fans don't always get what they pay for...

Or they are what you might call "all in on kicking the can down the road a bit further"...it's sort of a re-branding of "wait till next year".

I think that Henry has decided to let Bloom implement a Five Year Plan. I have my reservations about it too. Because what happens if next year, Year Five, isn't great either?

To me if you don’t play to win then don’t play at all. Kennedy said last year they all failed, because they didn’t make the postseason, so how many failures should a team be allowed? To me 1 season is 1 season to many especially when what’s down the road may never get to be as good as what some are hoping for. Watching years just pass away is just ridiculous to me, and the JH that first come here wouldn’t let that happen like the JH of today.

Yeah, I think they're playing kind of a dangerous game. They could easily have tried a little harder this year without destroying the future.

I know some on here don’t think they do, but to me they owe it to the fans, who shell out big bucks to go watch some of that crap, and to the players in the clubhouse.

There is an old expression that sums up how I have always felt about athletics in general - What I had I gave, because what I saved I lost. They could certainly have done more and still have been very cognizant of the future.

Bloom I don’t believe knows how to do that. Hence the third option at the fork in the road concept.

Ah but you’ve never spent $240million to miss the postseason…

They absolutely could have. Assuming any other deadline deal negotiations were reasonable…

Poor John, huh? I guess he'll have to console himself with the team's $4.5 billion market value.

From what we've learned, Bloom was trying to sell more than trying to buy. He came close to trading Turner, apparently.

Remember how early in the season when the Red Sox were getting gift wins like I believe on opening day Baltimore dropped a easy fly ball in LF , which would have ended the game, but Boston went on to win. Another game that had 3 catcher interference in it that helped the team win. Now the Red Sox are giving back like the base running blooper from yesterday, and 2 IF collided going after a ground ball, and looking like the Bad News Bears.

Hey, without rumors, what would we have?

The one thing we know is, he did squat LOL

We often chose offense over defense. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's ugly.
