  1. so it does it keep it alot more fair that traditional european sports, especially football. is each team alloacted a certain tax threshold, or is it the same for everyone? seeing as both the Sox and the Yankess generate the most income, they do have a higher tax threshold?
  2. Hi lads, as ive stated here recently, im a relatively new fan to baseball. Im in Ireland, so needless to say baseball its not exactly a common sport to watch. but one of the tv networks does show a few live games, plus i have a firestick so i can watch whatever games i like. a few things im trying to get my head around, which i hope someone can explain. how exactly do the finances work in baseball, i read about luxury tax and other stuff. So how does it work, can a team just spend what it wants and go out and buy/trade for the best players money can buy, or is there a cap on how much each team can spend, depending on how much they make. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Pointing out, that in my opinion. He's not exactly living the life of an athlete.
  4. Is it me, or has he put on a fair bit of timber this season? I'm not saying he's a fatso, but every time the camera is on him, he's bloody eating.... You don't see Austin riley stuffing his face, that's for sure
  5. time to set up a "go fund me" page so!!!!! all joking aside, how s*** are the yankees though......... i think that series demolitionb job that the Braves did on them this week ,has genuinely finished them off
  6. pretty much. whats that old saying, "the only thing worse than making the wrong decision, is not making any decision at all"
  7. Bloom, or probably more accurately, fsg missed the boat with trying to push in the transfer window for one, or possibly two genuine players...... They just don't have that killer instinct to win.
  8. Maybe he fancied a change in scenery, and e even climate. He's a 30 year old man that's already spent 10 years in a climate, completely different to where he's from. It happens, but a decent replacement must be the priority now. Pity we didn't try for trea Turner....
  9. The price is only ever remembered when the player doesn't deliver. I'm sure there's not one phillies fan is complaining about harpers hefty wage anymore. Ok, they didn't win the world series, but they came bloody close. The sox need nail down bogaerts and devers ASAP, not so much regardless of cost, but pay the guys the going rate and a bit more. Then add in two decent additions and a run at pennant, at the very least for next season is a very real possibility
  10. Don't forget he allowed Kyle schwarber to leave as well......
  11. I'm coming from a football (soccer) stance her, so excuse the naivety. Is there a deadline in the mlb trade season, and do most of the deals get done in the final days? Because in soccer here in Europe, there's a transfer window, but so many deals only get completed in the final hours of the window, which would have been open for months.

  13. To be fair, mookie could probably play catcher and he'd still be the best player in the park. Judge is a more than capable right fielder. Lots of chatter about the giants being willing to break the bank for him.
  14. First time Post from a far away and new fan to baseball. What do you much more experienced guys make of the fans "privileged" Yankee fans booing the likely mvp yesterday? Sure the chap isn't exactly pulling up any trees in the off season, but show the guy some respect ffs.
  15. i dont know if you lads have any interest in the Sox other sporting team Liverpool. but the appointment of the media darling Valentine is the exact same thing that Liverpool did 18 months ago. They basically sacked an excellent coach that had a band run (like Theo), and replaced him with a media favourite, (Valentine) needless to say it all went pear shaped. As the old saying goes, "The chicken has come home to roost"
