@bradfo

James Paxton leaves with two outs in second inning. Flexing his leg. Didn’t seem serious as walked through dugout giving fist bumps. Guess is precautionary.

C'mon man, have a little sense of humor.

So you’re doubling back now because Paxton got hurt after a long hiatus?

I shall not backpedal, but I know I may have to issue a major mea culpa about you-know-who...

Maybe at least hit the catcher's mitt?

I believe moon watches every game. I believe Jacoby ran into some stupid outs, which moon remembers. I believe that his overall baserunning ability made up for the stupid outs and then some. Memories from 15 years ago are going to be a little faulty. That's just the way it is. Trust but verify.

I remember discussing his bad instinct many times more than specific instances or examples.

So your memories are just of discussing his bad instinct rather than it actually happening?

I'll err on the side of what BsR and the other stats show.

As for the Sox spring record so far, as I like to say, good small meaningless samples are better than bad small meaningless samples.

I thought my statement was pretty clear. I remember more about discussions but do remember him running into outs.

I remember him being thrown out, often, usually trying for 3B with less than 2 outs.

I'm not saying he was a net negative baserunner. I never said that. I said he had bad instincts, early in his career.

For someone who stole a ton of bases (129 in his first 331 games or 0.048 per game), I'd expect his BsR to be higher than 15.8. One has to think it was lower due to running into outs and getting picked off, too many times.

It was 19.9 in his next 384 games (0.052/gm). (2010-2013.) I thought the differential would have been higher, here. Again, the guy could steal bases and way better than Duran. That wasn't my point. My point was not to say Ellsbury was ever a net negative on the bases- only that he had poor instincts, early on in his career.

I know people say not to look into ST stats, but especially now, look who is playing.

This is what I love about spring training, there’s always a few guys who’s name you read and you have to ask yourself “who the heck is that?”.

So many are there just to fill space, so the vets and real hopeful players don't have to play, too much.

And for the 14th year in a row, the Yankees have the greatest bullpen in the history of this century not to play in the World Series.

Their injury history is equally impressive.

Trainers out to see Paxton and he's coming out the game. He was grabbing at his right hamstring.

Grade 1 strain. Won’t make opening day roster but expected back mid-April, when he can resume injuring himself again…
