The truck is southbound on 95. Pitchers and catcher are to report by the 15th. First full workout is the 20th, unless someone's third grandma passes away.

Any hope left for the Felt Man?

Red Sox brass said Feltman might step right from his college campus into the big leagues.

Little did they know that right after the draft he enrolled in med school and law school, and got his teaching certificate, to pay for books on the side. The latter profession requires a Masters in some states, but they give you eight years or so to finish the credits.

I have no doubt Feltman could have jumped right from college to MLB. Now would he have been any good?

Cora said this in ST ‘19:

“I still remember people thought he was going to be the savior last year when he got drafted – it’s not that easy, it’s not that easy,” Cora said. “We went through it in ’05 (with first pick Craig Hansen, who did not pan out) and he was kind of like ‘the guy’ and it didn’t turn out to be that. You’ve got to be very careful. This is still the big leagues. I don’t know if I have told you guys, my brother, he puts it in a very particular way. It’s A ball, Double A, Triple A, it’s not 4A, it’s MLB. There’s a difference. There’s a big jump from the A’s to MLB. There’s a period of adjustment.”

Well said, it is unfortunate that for too many of our prospects it has turned out to be 4A not MLB.

Feltman’s pitching is worse now than when he was drafted.

That’s why at best I had him as my wild card.

But it’s more likely he never sees Fenway without a ticket…

I gave up naming my "sleeper" after T Shaw and then Ockimey.

What was wrong with Shaw? I didn’t think he was ever even going to make the team, let alone have an MLB career…

Sleeper: Alfaro

MiLB guy that people will start to notice: Lugo

Looks like 2 good picks.

Lugo seems to be coming into what some expected a while ago.

I'm going to go:

Sleeper: Wilyer Abreu

MiLB to be noticed: Elmer R-C

But who will be the winner of this year’s Jeff Bailey Award? You know, for that guy who has a hot start in spring training and it generates serious buzz about how he deserves to be starting on the Sox this year and they need him NOW?

I guess I kinda felt like he was going to really prove me right, then fell off a cliff after a couple nice years.

Sometimes you fall for the name. Jeff Bailey was a cool name. I thought Sam Travis was a can't-miss.

ERC wasn't invited to big league camp. If we are talking about minors camp, I think there will be lots of guys following Bleis this year.

I was also trying to go for guys not included on the 40 man. Would be nice to have another OF option in Abreu. We'll see how he rebounds. He struggled in the AFL from what I remembered.

My idea of what a "sleeper" is, is not someone like Blies, who is highly touted by the media and ranking services.

Oh, that framing always reminds me of PEDRO CIRIACO. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1104858-spring-training-2012-pedro-ciriaco-making-the-most-out-of-an-opportunity

I would say that the majority of RED SOX NATION still has no idea who he is. Most of the reporters that will be at ST have never seen him before in person.

@BeyondtheMnstr

Red Sox lefty Chris Sale running sprints down at Fort Myers.

Baseball is inching closer by the day.

I hope Sale is wrapped in bubble wrap all spring.
