This kid is becoming a sleeper too. Last 10 games his ERA is 1.88, 52 innings, 39 hits, 74 K's. Walks a little high, 25 of them. He's also only allowed 1 HR the whole season, in 101 innings. Walks is his biggest problem.

I believe one of the prospect publications had him as a top 5 Boston prospect this offseason.

I'd be lying if I said I wanted him to do well.

Just because when a guy you trade away does well, a lot of people never stop moaning and groaning and bashing the GM about it.

I'd rather have Sale tho. I get your point.

I doubt anyone ever moans about giving up prospects for Sale.

BUT THEY COULD HAVE KEPT KOPECH AND MONCADA IF THEY DIDN'T OVERPAY FOR KIMBREL. Or something like that.

Yea, we'll hear that for sure... (maybe even from me)...

ChiSox calling up Kopech.

Cant wait to see Eloy Jimenez, he's going to be something. White Sox got some talent coming.

Interesting. Shawaryn is getting some work from the bullpen. My guess: the Red Sox will add him to the 40 man roster and call him up in September where he will work from the bullpen. Next year, Shawaryn will continue his development as a starter and could be the guy who replaces Porcello in the rotation in 2020.

Shawaryn is not rule 5 until 2019, so we might wait. It would save us a 40 man roster spot for someone who will be rule 5.

I'm not sure we'll have a big roster crunch this winter for rule 5's since we have quite a few FA leaving who will likely be replaced from within the system.

I highly doubt Shawaryn ever cracks the Sox rotation aside from a spot start. Sox don't really have any starters in the system.

The two best bets are Mata, Groome and Houck. One of those guys might profile as a reliever (Houck) one might be more of a BOTRS (MATA) and the guy with the highest upside is starting to show questions about his ability to stay healthy.

The Sox legacy of not developing starters may very well continue into the foreseeable future. And that's ok, you can still have a kick ass farm system without developing starters, and the Sox have shown you can trade away guys to build your roster where you are weak and built a 100+ win team.

This is Kopech's splits this year. Notice his numbers when he is ahead in the Count and Behind in the Count. Now, he faces MLB PLayers who really works counts. Look at the walks. Holy s***!

He has been a lot better after AS Break, but many of the good young hitters were probably called up to the Majors. So we'll see with him.

At least you're honest about it. I am sure a lot of people feel the same way.

For me, it's not about whether he ends up doing well or not. Kopech and all prospects have value before they ever step into a major league game. It's that value that needs to be properly ascertained when making a deal, not the value after the fact.

Exactly.

OPS in AA this year:

Dalbec 1.019

Chavis .900

Dalbec has 50 less AB's than Chavis, but only one less XBH. The big concern is how much Dalbec k's, but if he can make contact at the higher level, maybe he has a better ceiling.

And Fielding. 2 for 7 last night with 4 K's.

Dalbec's fielding is supposed to be "above average". Chavis is average to below average. Would make sense that Dalbec stays at 3b and Chavis is at 1b next year.

I'm interested in what an Ockimey/Travis platoon would look like too.

Here's Dalbec's Fielding so far. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=666915#/career/R/fielding/2018/ALL

Both Chavis and Dalbec the same. Both need a lot of improvement.

Can you say welcome to our minor league system, a nearly barren waste land! But on the bright side, the parent team is 50 games over .500.

Ps: If sale and Rodriguez return healthy, then the scorched earth policy that desperate dave has applied to our minor league system will be worth it because we will be world champions again!

I'd have done things a little differently, but yes, a ring makes everything extra fine with me.

Two would be buttah!
