Glad he is at Triple AAA, just played a couple of games, too early yet. Lets see. Same with Dalbec, but as soon as he got up, Chavis is sitting. Not even DH. Is he hurt?

Chavis played both games of the doubleheader on Saturday. Played 1b one game and 3b the other. Dalbec DH'd once and played 1b once.

Chavis has just been really struggling at AA and he missed time due to injury recently.

Denyi Reyes last 10 starts 7-0, 1.39 era He's on same team as Houck is now. Your right Houck trending in right direction.

If this kids last name was Espinoza Fans would be going nuts.

https://www.milb.com/milb/news/minor-league-baseball-announces-july-2018-players-of-the-month/c-289126052

I need to see an updated scouting report for Reyes. Most of the previous reports had him with underwhelming stuff. For whatever reason, he's been able to dominate without throwing very hard (obv it's because he has great control). We'll have to see if his approach continues to play at higher levels.

Chavis 4 for 4.

It is hard to get excited about Chavis -- he is still a juiced hitter.

This is why players who fail tests aren't eligible for the playoffs. It was decided that the benefits of the juice stick around long enough for October baseball.

A-Rod was an interesting case in point. He had a very good offensive year in 2015, a year after his suspension, but then collapsed in 2016 and retired during the 2016 season. It is pretty clear that A-Rod stopped taking the juice after his one year suspension. At that point, A-Rod wasn't going to risk a lifetime suspension and the voiding of his contract (the Yankees still owed him millions). The PEDs continued to benefit ARod in 2015, but by 2016 it was clear that he wasn't a good player without the juice and his numbers precipitously declined.

We could learn so much more about the effects of PEDs if some of the users--Clemons, Bonds, A-Rod, Palmerio, Manny, etc.,--would come forward and provide details on their PED use. Unfortunately, the PED guys aren't talking....

According to A-rod's time frame, Cano should be decent in 2019, but should be pretty terrible in 2020 when the juice no longer benefits his offensive production. Of course, this is assuming that Cano stops taking PEDs. He might juice again; unlike A-rod after the Miami clinic, Cano wouldn't be risking a lifetime suspension and the rest of his contract.

Chavis is a younger guy, however, and probably hasn't been juicing for years in comparison to A-Rod and Cano and so that might change the formula in terms of how long PED use continues to benefit offensive production (even after the user stops taking the juice).

He will continue to reap the benefits in terms of muscle mass assuming he keeps working out, although the heavy roid users do start losing their ill gained muscle mass after stopping entirely. Chavis will forever have a black stain on his career, but if he starts popping bombs and lights up fenway, most people wont care

Castellanous with his first tater for Greenville.

Howlett with his fourth for the gcl Sox. I am intrigued by the potential of him and northcutt.

We aren't like Yankee fans.

Shepherd 6 IP 2 ER (9K/ 7H + 1BB)

Chavis 2 for 4.

Castellanos also went 4 for 4.

Do you love David Ortiz? Don't be a hypocrite

Big difference in offense, if there was one, and the amount of Sox offenses vs Yankee ones.

Don't be myopic.

Do we really have hard evidence on Ortiz using PEDs or just innuendo? I think Ortiz is in the Piazza/Bagwell innuendo category, maybe he did, maybe he didn't. He will have a hard time making the HOF, though. Some voters will be swayed by the PED innuendos and the DH thing is always a problem.

Manny Ramirez's history bothers me. I appreciate and enjoyed the 2004 and 2007 world series victories, but such victories do mean a little less knowing that Manny was a PED guy and was probably juicing those years. Manny will always be a disgrace--that's his legacy. He is joined at the hip with A-Rod, Bonds, and a few others. What sucks is that these guys ruined the records. The HR records and RBI records were sacred territory and now they don't mean as much. Oh well, there are worst things in the world.....

True.

Sox fans never knowingly cheered numerous proven or admitted PED users that led us to any rings.

Manny was tested numerous times while with the Sox. I'm not saying he was clean his whole career, but nothing proves he used in Boston, and even if he did, Sox fans never cheered him knowing he was a user- like Yankee fans cheered ARod, Clemens and others.

To be fair, they didn't know anything about Clemens while he played for them.

True.

Hindsight does show he used in NY, while with Manny, it's just conjecture.

1. The steroid talk never goes anywhere productive.

2. Weird that Jacko has a boner about Chavis even though the Yankees had Clemens, Pettitte, Sheffield, Giambi, Cano, ARod, Cabrera, Cervelli, Montero, Knoblauch, Brown, Grimsley, Justice, Leyritz, Morris, Stanton, Velarde, and many more...

I don't think you're reading this right. I was saying people will look past it if he is crushing bombs in Boston just like us Yankee fans did when ARod was sending them out of the Stadium. If the player is allowed to play in the league, then you root for the laundry.

Guess I read this wrong?

That HR jump makes sense now. He’s dead as a prospect now. His power was the real standout tool and if there was an unnatural reason for it, he’s effectively going to fade into irrelevance.

No, you're a big supporter of his.

Stanton has been connected to PEDs? Giancarlo or is there another Stanton I'm forgetting about?

Mike Stanton was also Giancarlo's name his first few seasons in the league...

I know. I'm talking about the OG Mike Stanton, which is why I included the fangraphs page.

Dalbec and chavis with two taters each today.

Granberg with a tater for Lowell today as well.

Shawaryn walked 4 in five innings, but only gave up two runs.
