I think Prado is fine as a player, but don't think the Sox can add on more salary at 1B/3B/DH until Pablo and Hanley are gone. I can't imagine the Marlins looking to eat any of that contract.

I do not like the idea of spending big money to correct a terribly expensive problem at 3rd.

 

And for what? a 33 year old meh infielder from Venezuela.

 

We already have a younger version of that.

He's on the payroll for a little over $11 million and we would pro-rate that. Possibly we could unload someone on them.

If Devers is good enough to be promoted on 7/13, why not bring him up now? Possibly we could get another win or two in the interim with him. I think the Sox management are not planning on bringing him up until the end of August and will need a fill in for the two intervening months. We shall see.

Because they have a pattern of letting minor league players earning All Star accolades before promoting them. It may seem silly or strange to you, but it's the organizational philosophy. I'm glad they are looking at Devers' long term career path rather than jerking him around the way they did to Swihart.

Other day they played Mike Olt at DH and sat Devers, against a Pitcher with a 5.83 era. Granted pitcher was a Lefty, but that when I want my kids to face them, in the Minors. What are they doing situational hitting in the Minors? You'll never learn.
