How about the A's Brent Rooker and Shane Langeliers?  I'm sure Trout doesn't want to move because of his family.

The Athletics are well into the postseason hunt and trying to shake their cheap image as they make slowly make their way towards Vegas.

At tjis stage in the season, Boston might be better off trying to find the next Brent Rooker rather than throwing away more potential future pieces chasing the 2026 season.  When the A’s acquired Rooker, he was a 27 year old journeyman with minimal games and even less performance for three different MLB teams.  Candidates to be the next Brent Rooker might be someone like Justin Foscue or <sigh> Jo Adell.

It keeps coming back to Adell…

The RF bullpen yearns for Adell!

Nothing the Red Sox front office does surprises me anymore.

They consistently make bad trades. What's another?

Priester trade looks like an L.

Harrison and Drohan trade looks like an L.

Can someone Explain to me why Breslow should still have his job?

Breslow should only be in charge of the pitching, which he’s good at. Everything else’s, he’s grossly under qualified…that’s what happens when your owner has zero loyalty to anyone but himself.

Weren’t the As forced to have a 100m payroll this year?

They weren't really "forced to" per se, but were getting a lot of crap from other owners and the union from not spending. They intended to reach 100m in '25, but only got to 95m. This year they got to around 120m, I think. They are really just doing it for PR purposes while they are in the process of moving.

Just shows that if there’s a cap there should be a floor. They are more competitive at just 120M. But that will probably never happen. Even though that’s how you get better teams and more competition.

No cap, but if there's a CBT tax, there should be a CBT floor tax where you lose a % of revenue sharing if you don't put enough back into payroll.

Agree. A floor is more important for a competitive balance. My original point was just that. If the6 want a cap then they need a floor too. I don’t think billionaires should get and cash for not spending. Sounds unfair to owners, where in some cases are worth less, but put more of a % of their money earned from the team back into their team.

You play half of your games at Fenway Park and you are last in the league in home runs! That can't happen if you plan on winning anything! As it stands now if they fall behind by 3 runs they can't win that game. A Red Sox team that can't come from behind by three runs! Before the 2027 season that has to be corrected.

Breslow knew power was a problem going into the offseason and wasn't able to do anything about it. He pivoted to a pitching and defense team. Why? The spreadsheet didn't account for the home games being played at Fenway Park! 🤓
