Hey, the Red Sox won by beating a bad pitcher! Congratulations are in order, can they do the same against Luzardo?

Luzardo is 50/50 on throwing a trainwreck start. Good news for him is he's going against the Red Sox.

Is he still tipping pitches?

Word is he will stop tipping pitches, after tonight's game.

Weather not looking good in Boston. 1-2” of rain into the night with a cold wind coming in. Could cool off the bats.

Temps would have to be sub-zero to make them colder than they already are. But if they made contact and didn't break in half, Sox could have a few frozen ropes.

One of my Philly phriends says he cannot pitch with guys on base.  IMVHO, if it tipping pitches, he'd be bad every outing, and not flipping between AS-level production and really bad.

  • Monasterio at DH, tonight AND batting second!

1. Duran LF

2. Monasterio DH

3. Abreu RF

4. Contreras 1B

5. Rafaela CF

6. Story SS

7. Narvaez C

8. Durbin 3B

9. IKF 2B

Again, no Mayer vs the lefty.

Cora would never put so many RHBs back to back, so maybe more changes are possible/coming.

Did they send Gasper back down? I was hoping he was in the lineup at C or DH. And stays in the lineup somehow (df ikf or option a catcher down).

I don't think so.

Who was added to the 26 that necessitates a demotion?

I can’t believe that DUBin moved up let alone is still in the lineup.

I thought someone came back of IL or something. Well, that's what was in my head as to possibly "why" Gasper isn't in the line up. I wuz wrawng.

Hasn’t really been the case with Tracy at the helm.  The Sox have played 15 games under Chad.  Mayer has started 13 of them, played in 14 and played the complete game 12 times.  He was lifted for a pinch hitter one time.  Yes. both times he didn’t start it was against a lefty (one was the Framber game) and he was pinch hit for against a lefty.  But he has faced multiple southpaws under Tracy and has handled them pretty well.  It certainly isn’t automatic that he sits against a goofysider like it was under Cora.

Given his injury history, maybe they give him one day off a week in ann effort to keep him available all year.

There are only 2 LHB batters, so who else would Cora have in the lineup tonight, so there are not so many RHB back to back? Mayer is still platooned just like Cora did, so see  NO changes.🤭

See my post above about Mayer’s use under Tracy. It may not be a complete 180 from his use under Cora, but there’s a galaxy of difference.

And let’s be realistic, it’s not like he setting the world on fire against pitchers of any side arm.

The change of manager did offer a chance to think maybe a few things might change, even if slight or near inconsequential.

I guess if Mayer is to get a day off, it makes sense vs a LHP, and yes, his usage has increased. Although Mayer's offense has not been good, it's bee a hell of a lot better than Story, Durbin and IKF. (I mentioned Story, despite Mayer not really being the back -up SS.)

Monasterio does have a higher 2026 OPS than Mayer, and his career splits favor LHPs, so it makes sense. I was kinda surprised seeing him up 2nd, but when you look at the other choices, it's not as major as it seems.

Mayer only has 8 AB against LHP, so I don’t think he faced multiple under Tracy.  Agree on the rest.

Now watch IKF hit 2 HR's tonight. I better get back on my medication.

One unique thing about this current Sox team is there's really only one thing to complain about. The offense.

Everything else is better than it's been in years.

not buying that assessment of the bullpen, beyond the two at the end, and if the offense does not get it in gear I expect both of their good relievers to go at or before the trade deadline.

game on, the crafty one working on a no hitter 6 down 21 to go

off course the same get be said about the other southpaw, I swear our high school team could hit better then this team.
