Gotta like what this management team has been doing.

What a breath of fresh air seeing us keep our winners, sign our young stars and yes, dump the deadwoods and malcontents.

MLBTRs reports...

Chapman is guaranteed $13.3MM by the deal, and that if  [he] throws enough innings to vest his 2027 option he’ll earn $26MM over two seasons.

Great news.  Hopefully just the beginning - Bregman then Giolito.

To me, I consider Bregman signed already. If he opts out then Sox negotiation strategy will be same as last year or even stingier. Sox were smart to go only 3 years and I dont see that changing and he's not necessarily worthy of a raise.

Breg can opt out at his OWN peril.

I think they'll bring him back one way or another.  They're on a roll of good moves with retaining the ones that need to be retained.

I think worries about Bregman's decline on offense have been rebutted, this year, but now injury concerns might be higher. How long this slump lasts may change my first statement. He had a long slump, last year.

His OPS+ was between 152 and 162 back in '18-'19, then dipped some (after the trash cans were taken away) before reaching 134 in 2022, then...

134 '22

122 in '23

117 in '24 (age 30)

I'm not sure he has gained any more bargaining power based on this year's current 139 OPS+ and constant stellar defense at 3B. He's a year older, but it's hard to know what other GMs are thinking and wanting.

To me, bring him back is essential. If we miss out, we'd need to sign Alonso at 3B, maybe Torres at 2B and pray Mayer stays healthy enough to play FT 3B in 2026.

Lock him up, Get Gio on board. Make one big trade for a solid SP'er, like Ryan, and onward & Upward we go!

FIRE BREZ is the mantra. Climb aboard the Fred Express.

Absolutely.

All he did was trade for and extend Crochet, extend Anthony, bring on Lowe, extend Campbell, trade for Narvaez, sign and extend Chapman, unload the unco-operative Devers and his entire contract, sign Bregman, extend Bello, and extend Rafaela.

All of that can be overlooked because he committed the unforgivable act of acquiring  the wrong pitcher with an ERA north of 5 over the past month…

Plus Buehler & Hicks, but yes.

Don't forget Payton -- who Brez drafted and then promoted a year later... in a wild card race!

The #50 pick is only the sixth player from the '24 draft pitcher to make the majors, and second pitcher after #2 overall Chase Burns.

Holy Tolle.

Stop repeating the management line.  One of those supposed deadwoods had a crappy year and still hit 35 hr and 105 RBI

Aroldis Chapman would die before wearing a Yankees uniform again

“No way. Not even dead,” Chapman said in a clip shared through Instagram. “If I were told that I was being traded to New York, I’d pack my things and go home. I’ll retire right on the spot if that happens. I’m not crazy. Never again. I dealt with a lot of disrespect there. I put up with a lot of things. I knew that they just wanted to find a way to get rid of me, but they didn’t know how. And I just dealt with it quietly, kept playing, and doing what I always do. I got along well with all the players, never had a problem with anybody, even the manager. We’re friends and we talk and everything. The bosses are the ones who make those decisions.”
