I would not bring Hicks in.  He warmed up completely once, a 90 minute delay isn’t going to be good.

Called that one; Hicks blows it.

That #9 Twins hitter started that whole thing with a fantastic 2 strike emergency swing to foul off a very good pitch, then singled.

Sox hitters could take a note from that.  I remember reading Eddie Murray used to take one round of BP practicing his emergency swings.

I don’t often criticize Cora, but that was a mistake.  Hicks threw 1 2/3 innings yesterday and then warmed up completely today for original bottom of the 9th.  Asking any pitcher to warm up again after that kind of delay is stupid.

This happens when you don’t have a solid secondary pitch. Hicks became pretty predictable.

You're almost as prescient as Fred.

No, I basically said I didn’t like him having to warm up again after after a 90 minute delay when he ready to come into the game earlier.

Whitlock should have been, but who’s available is info we never have.  The problem with Buehler and Fitts back to back is BP guys are forced into overuse.

Trade Chapman because the Sox have closer Hicks.

Trade Chapman because the team doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs

The team deserves to be in the PO's, but I'm not sure Cora does.

I don’t want to see them in the playoffs this year. I want them to lose as many games as possible. It would provide no satisfaction to make it into the playoffs for a one and done.

Just lose baby!

Follow-on to my earlier posts about using Hicks after the delay.

Whitlock apparently was sick and unavailable.

Prior to the tarp going on the field, Hicks was announced and entered into the line-up card.  Lou Merloni said on the radio side that there is no exception to the 3 batter rule in that situation, so Cora was forced to use Hicks for at least 3 batters.

But with Whitlock and Chapman unavailable, the Sox only had 6 arms in the pen.  They ran through Murphy, Alcala, Bernardino and Weissert, leaving Hicks and Wilson (who pitched Saturday and Sunday and may not have been available either).  They were screwed no matter what they did unless they used Weissert for a second inning or a starter.

Whitlock needs his own personal hospital. He's either sick or injured.

So you’d rather watch them lose 55 more games than watch them lose 2 postseason games?  Yeah that makes sense…

It also makes zero sense to assume a one and done when the Sox have one of the best starting pitchers in the game and anything can happen in a 2 out of 3.

But that's Fred.

Hicks is terrible. We got nothing back in the Devers trade that is helping us and of course Henry is sitting on the $$ he saved.

Hicks can be effective in non-pressure situations. He cannot close. Choked too many times.

I'm not even sure about that.

I guess Daddy Day Care didn't want Whitlock to get hurt.

we have a winner...he's a wimp. He'll be second coming of Matt Barnes, later years.
