This is going to be one of those annoying Rays games.

No doubt.  They've been like that for a long time.  Moneyball was about the A's because Billy Beane's use of sabermetrics was understandable.  The Rays system is far more complex and successful.

Anthony isn't benched because he can't hit a righty.

Duran and Abreu are starting because they can hit righties...

Tight shot group of OPS's vs righties:  .849, 849, 831.

Stat of the Day

Among our 13 positional players, we now have 11 players with OPS of .700 or higher. Mayer is the 12th at .674.

Connor Wong at .375 is an embarrassment. He is 0-27 with runners in scoring position. (he did have a sacrifice fly for his only RBI)

Please Mr. Breslow, find someone to replace this guy. Can we really afford to have him catch during playoffs? The blackest hole in a line up I've ever seen.

Jays also have 11 but their #12 as an OPS of .622.

To get into a playoff spot, first you gotta get into third place. Seems like a good time to do that.

Why would the back-up catcher need to catch during the playoffs other than injury?

Yes, it’s a concern, but it’s no where near the top of the list.

Already behind.

Another couple of runs and it’s pretty much over

This is a tragic way to support your team.

*I better run to the forum to reverse jinx this, and if it happens the way I said anyway,  I can tell everyone I knew it all along.

It's every day/night, man.

The infamous C B Bucknor behind the plate. Author of the book I Can't Be Fired Unless I Murder My Wife.

He is the reason why baseball needs electronic empowering, or a challenge system.
