Fitts, Giolito and Buehler all getting lit up before the fans are even settled in their seats kind of signals there really is no hope for the 2025 Sox.

You should be hoping that cora gets fired by August.

He has wanted Cora fired long before this.

Or:

In those 3 games where the Sox starting pitchers gave up 15 first inning runs, what about the fact that the Sox still went 1-2 in those games, with a run differential of 2 runs?  That provides no hope?

this is the cold hard truth. it's over. i would suggest they sell & trade what they can and rebuild, but until this team hires scouts, coaches and management that can identify pitching talent, it will continue to be more of the same. their fascination with signing broken-down pitchers and the number of horrendous trades and FA signings made by this team the last 5-6 years is just mind-boggling.

It provides some hope in the offense and in team spirit, perhaps, but over the long haul it spells a completely shredded pitching staff.

It's Cora's fault! He doesn't have them properly prepared for starts!

Cora should be putting on the mask and squatting behind the plate in pregame warm-ups, and giving them targets on the black perimeter of the four quadrants! And all catchers and catcher coaches should be made to crowd around to watch him demonstrate!

And then Cora should fly a helicopter over the mound to blow fastballs past the batters, and tilt the rotator blades to make breaking balls spin at inhuman revolutions.

Only he can make the pitching staff good again... like it once was when they had a complete rotation of five major league pitchers... When was that, anyway -- last decade?

Cora's days may be numbered.  But I believe the current problems run much deeper than just the manager.

I still don’t think Cora’s days are numbered, but they should be.  Cora said himself that things aren’t getting better, and he doesn’t know what to do, but show up. You can’t keep saying we’ve got to do better, and we competed right?, and last night we got into their BP even though we didn’t win the game. It’s not just that they are losing, but the way they are losing for the 4th year in a row now playing bad fundamental baseball. Bailey, Fatse, and Teck, and all his notebooks can follow out the door too.

Really not sure what Cora is supposed to say that will make anything better.  He could go Hal McRae or Herman Edwards of course.

I loved what Earl Weaver said about not believing in "team meetings" - you know, the kind that are supposed to turn things around.

Weaver said "if you have a team meeting and go out and lose again, then what do you do?"

All I’m saying is that things haven’t worked now for 4 years, and maybe some new voices in that clubhouse would be a breath of fresh air, and sometimes that’s all you need. To me all of Cora’s postgame pressers have worn thin.

Really questioning the merits of Andrew Bailey these days, too...

Last year Bailey was called a magician on here, but after listening to Buehler last night it sounds like Bailey has him all messed up on what to throw.

As the old saying goes, you can't fire all the players.

And if our pitching coaches and hitting coaches stink, we still have problems after they replace Cora.

I think cora has pictures of jh in compromising positions.

I agree. Clean house of all of them.

And you gave me endless crap for giving up on the Sox in July.

I would think a new manager would want to bring in his own guys.

Maybe, but Bailey is Breslow's guy and Lawson is somebody's guy.  All depends what kind of manager they hire and how much power they're willing to give him.

Yanks offense has been in a funk this week, and Buehler owned them in the World Series last season. So it only makes sense that the Yanks will drop 8 runs on him in the first inning.

or maybe just 5

How is cleaning house on Cora, and his coaching staff giving up? New voices, and maybe a new way of doing things might be just what the doctor ordered unless of course you are happy watching what’s going on now. I don’t give up until the team is mathematically  eliminated, but we all know you  can’t  Say the same..

Teams today have more coaches, assistant coaches, newly created positions, special assistants and larger instructional staffs than ever before.  And yet, the players seem more unsound and unsure fundamentally than they ever have.

I agree. How many titles does Tek  have, or had?

What is Varitek's job anyway. He is not the "bench coach ", whatever that is.  Is he the offensive coordinator, game planner, quality control analyst, industrial engineer, babysitter or what ?
