Not much doubt in my mind that Devers wants to get traded.

Mistake by Cora and his pitching coach to send Houck out for the 6th.

Devers and company get Cora off the hook.  Those 2 runs off Houck in the 6th were not needed for the Texas win.

The Red Sox start off the season with not many days off so Cora was trying to get another inning out of his starter, who had only given up 2 runs in 5 innings.  It's one of those tricky decisions for managers.  It's all easy for us sitting at home.

Going back to the end of last year, Devers has struck out 16 times in 5 games.

From the reports I have heard Raffy has had no problems whatsoever with either shoulder since he reported to ST, and hopefully his swing is just out of whack. Adjusting to just DH will be a big adjustment also.

Defense still looks excellent.  Except for Abreu, the hitting stinks.

Duran is also hitting well

Didn't look too good, today.

Had the one big chance with bases loaded and our two big money players up.

Gotta take the next game. Buehler needs to be sharp.

Well, if he is really and truly 100%, that would make me feel better about it.

At his age, with damaged shoulder/s, this may be as good as it gets.

Saying "This is who I am" isn't a lie right now, but swinging from the heels no matter what the count isn't who Raffy used to be.

The best hitters make constant adjustments during their careers. When Yaz was in his 20s, supple muscles allowed him to hold his bat six feet above his head and still catch up to fastballs thrown off 15-inch mounds. But as he aged he tried a million different stances and swings to compensate for broken down body parts, just to compete... and he still contributed into his 40s.

This Sox team still looks to hit better at home.

Bregman and Story just don't impress me. They will look much better with the short fence in the left.

We'll have to manufacture runs on the road.

I would had Campbell steal 2nd (I don't remember which inning, game was close then.)

I think our offense will struggle a bit to score runs until Devers really shows up again.

Casas is a slow starter too, and who knows what Story has left in his bat.

Devers missed a lot of ST'ing, so maybe he just needs to get back into the "swing of things."

I'm not worried about his bat.... yet.

yeah....wish we had kept Mookie and dumped Devers.

Ah the $300M+/$30M/yr DH Devers Forever. Mookie was up for contract at the wrong time, and Devers was the last Man standing of the three. If Devers would have come up for contract when Mookie did, and vice versa most likely Mookie would still be here, and Devers would not have been forever.

The Zack Scott dude laid it down.  The other thing they screwed up was that they talked about an extension for Devers pretty early on, when it would have been relatively cheap, but they nixed it because it would have resulted in more tax that year.  They made some spectacular blunders that will continue to cost the team for years.

But Polly says: Hopefully Brez can make us forget all that.

Even as a DH I don’t see Raffy aging very well the way he whips that bat around.

There's definitely a lot of money going down the tubes on that deal.  We might as well resign ourselves to that.  Just hope he can be an .850ish DH for a few more years.

I'd love a few hours in your mind. Just for the batshit mentalness of it.

He was the one I hoped they didn't spend long and big on, but by the time they did, they had no choice after the catalogue of terrible decisions beforehand.

In case anyone missed it, Cora said Devers will NOT be playing 3B at all any more.

Is that new? Didn't see that. I mean. that seems obvious to me, but I haven't seen that comment.
