Could we see this?

Fried or Burnes

Teoscar

Hoffman or Estevez

Trade Mayer for Crochet

I'm not a luis Robert fan. He's 26 and bats RH'd. He's owed 25:$15M, 26:$20M club option ($2M buyout). 27:$20M club option ($2M buyout)

Word is the CWS want a lot for him, but I do think Mayer for Crochet is too much. Would you give Mayer, Rafaela and Sandlin for Crochet and Robert? (How about with Abreu not Rafaela?)

According to MLB Channel last night, Alex Bregman has the highest OPS at Fenway of any batter in baseball. For those who think he's just a pull hitter feasting off Houston's Crawford boxes, here are career splits:

Home 94 homers, .270 BA, .846 OPS; Away 97 homers, .274 BA, .850 OPS. Bregman is not Trevor Story... definitely not with a career 13.4% K-rate.

A few years back I attended an Astros-Red Sox game, and got there early so my son could try to catch HRs in the Monster seats in batting practice. Bregman was a huge disappointment, because in his round, he intentionally hit an entire bucket of balls to right field, line drives between first and second. I've never witnessed any other big leaguer practice such a specific skill in BP... but always wonder why not.

He has shown some signs of decline, in the last 2 years, and has had some very slow starts.

We could use a second half hitter, though.

15 years was ridiculous for Boston especially with zero buyout

Continue the youth movement without dealing any prospects

you cannot continue dealing B list and above prospects for garbage vets and P with low K rates

Sign an elite FA arm or arms and deal Duran Yoshida for pitching depth

Breeze-low has nobody forgetting Orlando anytime quick

Trade grades, Chapman grade F

Top FA's on the market, ranked by MLBTR w estimate:

6. Fried $156M/6 (may get $200M/7)______

7. Alfonso $125M/5 (I guess we could trade Casas.)

8. Flaherty $115M/5 (maybe him + Manaea/Nate would be okay.)

9. Santander $80M/4 (Not much talk about him as a Sox.)

10. Manaea $60M/3 (Manaea + Nate + Hoffman?)

11. Teoscar $60M/3 (Consolation prize for no Soto?)

13. C Walker $60M/2 (see Alfonso)

14. Scott $56M/4 (I still want him, badly.)

16. Profar $45M/3 (I'd rather just play a kid in the OF.)

17. Eovaldi $44M/2 (The kind of contract JH might like.)

18. Hoffman $44M/4 (If we get just 1 SP'er, I think we need Hoffman, at min)

20. Torres $36M/2 (Not a fit for us, unless we trade Campbell.)

22. Estevez $27M/3 (consolation prize for missing on Scott & Hoffman?)

24. Pederson $24M/2 (I don't see the fit.)

25. Heaney $24M/2 (This would be the Bloom signing.)

28. Pivetta $21M/1 (Will get 3-4 years)

Quintana $20M/2, Scherzer $16M/1, Buehler $15M/1, Gibson $13M/1

You said the contract was a done deal, only the team option years were being worked out.

What happened to that 384 dollar contract?

I thought those were the facts......and not up for dispute?

I dont mean to come in this hot, but I think trading Duran is nonsense.

And I was all for trading him prior to last year, especially Notins proposed trade for my fellow RI'er Micheal King.

But at this point, no way.

Alex Cobb to Tigers (Thanks)

Carson Kelly nearing deal with Cubs.

Sox now mentioned as "interested" in Santander (Bats L-R).

The Red Sox and Cubs were in similar situations in terms of 2025 contention and a need for a catcher.

The Cubs reportedly face more financial constraints so it's interesting that Carson Kelly may sign with the Cubbies..

Carson Kelly would have been a good signing, but there are several defensive-first catchers around, that are not costly.

I would not take on the Vazquez contract, as notin mentioned.

Not even if MN  pays part of it?  It’s only one year…

Freidman: Dodgers sign Snell. Dodgers sign Treinen. Dodgers sign Conforto.

Dombrowski: Phillies sign Romano, first day of the Winter Meetings.

Breslow: Red Sox are interested in being aggressive... fans deserve it... it's time... though some may still be celebrating Chapman (Yankee fans).

Maybe, if they pay $8 of the $10M owed.

I do not think Vaz gets the best out of his staff.

Throw him in on a trade with Ober, Ryan or Lopez, and I'm listening.

If the Sox had signed the non-tendered Romano (and his ERA over 7), Breslow would be accused of dumpster diving.  Especially if Dombrowski had gone out and spent millions on Aroldis Chapman to help his bullpen.

Thats called irony…

Vazquez does more for his staff than Ryan Jeffers does.  Or Yasmani Grandal.

Vazquez is good (not great) defensive catcher who is a huge defensive upgrade over Wong.  I’d rather see the Sox trade nothing for his last year than try to bring in pretty much any of the remaining free agents.

Getting Chapman is garage diving. He ventilated his garage with a pistol.

He is better than Wong on defense, but so are about 50-60 other MLB catchers. He's not getting any younger. He is not good working with pitchers. He's making $10M. He is near the bottom of my list for an upgrade on Wong's overall profile. At $2-3M a year, maybe $4M, I'd take him over Wong

Reading Sean Murphy may be available. Broke down last year, and owed a lot by the Braves... plus, as has been said here and elsewhere, be wary of anyone Atlanta deems expendable.

Murphy is owed $60mill over the next 4 years with an option for a fifth.  As Atlanta watched Travis d’Arnaud depart via free agency, I’m not sure who else they have.  There is a 24yo in AAA named Drake Baldwin who appears to have some outstanding plate discipline and some pop.  Not sure how he is on the other side of the ball, however.

How many of those 50-60 catchers are available?  And for one year only?
