I like that we put Garcia and dobbins on the 40. I love that we jettisoned Campbell!!
I would like to thank the angels for talking about offering pivetta a three year deal!!!!

I was fairly confident from early on Pivetta would decline, but started getting quite nervous about it late afternoon yesterday.  Credit to Bres for reading that market correctly. There was a fair amount of surprise, and even horror at the QO. Like their Draft 5 moves, too.

I keep allowing myself to (stupidly) dream of Soto on this team, but in the likely event he isn't, this off season feels very exciting.

Narrator: But this, in fact, was as exciting as it got, and once more the evil Red Sox owner chuckled his way through Christmas, another hoodwinking pulled off.

No excuses for the Sox and the CBT. They were under last year. They can go over this year. The tax penalties are less than what they paid Sale to play elsewhere.

That says it all, MVP.

The kids are ready. The foundation is set. Maybe they think giving the kids one year to get established, and waiting another winter makes more sense, but Red Sox Nation is tired of waiting. The time is now!

They have $50M coming off the books after this season. There is no reason to not exceed the CBT by 40M.

I totally agree, but I am so far from expecting we even go over the line by $19.9M, it's not funny.

I doubt we go over it at all.

I could even see us coming $5-15M short. That's how low my expectations have sunk.

I agree, I'm just saying there's no excuse not to get that high. The penalties are meaningless. They'll be close enough to the CBT that they could reset next season.

I get your point and agree 100%.

We don't even have expensive arbs, this winter and not much, next winter.

No excuses, at all.

If we expend the big bucks, let's do it wisely.

A waterslide from the Monster Seats TM  down to the bottom of Fisk Pole TM. The ladder is already in play, so why not a waterslide?

For a sec, thought you were paraphrasing "Helter Skelter" -- I almost scrambled for the blow-torch in the tool shed.

Speaking of recklessly and wantonly, the Angels signed Yusei Kikuchi (2.2 bWAR in the past 3 years) to a 3 year deal worth $63mill.  That goes a long way towards explaining why Pivetta (6.6 bWAR over the past 3 years) turned down a QO…

That's more guaranteed money than 2023 CYA winner Blake Snell got from the Giants.

Did pivetta just price himself out of a deal with the angels
