Note the early start so the Guardians can get away early.

Carrasco, RHP, vs TBD

On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-Five;

Hardly a man is now alive

Who remembers that famous day and year."

Bernardino will be the opener. I like the idea of starting a lefty.

Line-up not in, yet, and we face a RHP in Carrasco (3.55 ERA)

1:35 start time

Let's make it 11-9, and keep our 3rd place position.

Wong and McGuire have been hitting really well. They are kind of out of options with everything else. O'Neilll out. Raffy has a bad shoulder. Story done for the year. No interesting names to add until September at the earliest.

Wong @ DH was kind of inevitable because he just caught 2 games and has the hot bat, OPS 1.048.

Devers could be out for several reasons--bad shoulder, bad knee, bad fielding, bad bat.

Somewhat like Devers, Yoshida is out for bad fielding and bad bat.

O'Neill probably had/has a concussion and is out until the weekend or later.

Here are OPS's for this lineup--

Duran .769

Casas .849

Abreu .535

Valdez .471

Wong 1.048

Hamilton .583

Reyes .451

McGuire .784

Rafaela .462

Worth noting is that the Sox team OPS right now--.686--is ranked 20th in MLB, and 5 of the above lineup players are are below .536.

Of the 18 errors committed by the Sox so far, 15 were committed by this lineup--including 3 by Abreu, 3 by Rafaela, 2 by Casas, 2 by Hamilton, and 2 by Reyes.

There were a lot of people that kept saying the offense would be fine this year.

Well, it usually is. Last year the team OPS was 9th in MLB, which was actually below par for the Sox.

But right now Turner (OPS .800) is gone, Devers is hurting, Yoshida's OPS, .574, is down 200 points from last year's not so good .783. O'Neill, a definite improvement over Verdugo, is out with a concussion. Casas, Wong, McGuire, and Duran are all hitting and all in today's lineup.

Rafaela cannot hit. Should the Sox make him a defensive SS and move on.

Abreu has not been hitting, but al least is now hitting the ball hard.

Pablo is a nice likable man, but needs to go.

Valdez and Pablo should be traded for a relief pitcher.

Valdez and Pablo are not exactly desirable trade fodder. They're stopgap solutions filling in for injuries. Valdez shelf-life is directly linked to the return of Grissom, who likely plays second base the bulk of the time, but we shall see if he is not given the occasion/frequent outing at SS.

Rafaela is the clear best SS on this team, and probably the best one between Boston and Portland. But since Portland is not supplying a solution anytime soon, I could see him taking SS this year. But Cora has overtly stated his future is in CF, so his play at SS is up in the air right now unfortunately. Especially given that Cora has shown he is fine with giving a long leash to weak defensive shortstops. Add to that O'Neill is out right now, leaving the Sox with only 3 outfielders on the roster, assuming they do not put Yoshida out there. So until O'Neill returns, expect Rafaela in CF. This means the Sox infield is left with juggling Reyes, Valdez and Hamilton because right now, they are all healthy...

No injury report for Yoshi, I wonder if Cora is just sitting him for a few games as he's been stinking up the joint at the plate

My take as well.

Yoshida's OPS one year ago today was .560. So he is at the very least, doing what he did last year at this time. Last year, starting one year ago today, he posted an OPS of .896 over his next 81 games. We need that Yoshida back...

Maybe MLB pitchers and analytics people as a collective entity figured out how to attack Yoshida sometime in July/23 or thereabouts and that was basically that...

The pitching game plan for Yoshida is locked in a safe under the code name, Tora, Tora, 3 Strikes out.

It's not just Yoshi, who did homer this week, who is not carrying a load. But in deference to their feelings, accept that none of those listed below were really expected to do anything significant this year at the MLB level. They are gaining experience and seeing their deficiencies .

Dalbec .000/.050 ; E. Valdez .143/.471 ; D. Hamilton .200/.543 ( a heavyweight here) ; Wilyer Abreu .176/.535 ; C. Rafaela .155/.472 ; P. Reyes .200/.451

Those are 6 of your 13 position players on the 26 man roster . How does anyone who is sober put the heat on Cora for anything ? This is a true AAAA lineup masquerading as MLB. Today's game begins with a Opener B. Bernandino, who did not make the club out of ST. Your bench consists of Devers, O'Neill( unavailable ?) , Dalbec, Yoshida . Both catchers are in the lineup, one is the DH

And the organization charges premium prices for this effort at building a team

yeah, these guys are all doing there best and i hope they succeed though most have no place on a MLB roster. i don't blame them; i blame the bloated, incompetent morons running this organization.

Reese's Pieces -- McGuire is the only guy in the starting line-up who literally wasn't a minor leaguer in the past two years.

But it's Getaway Day, so AC must be counting on the Guards to being going through the motions and hit the road.

We all know how cooked the bullpen has already looked this week -- and yet, Bernardino's the opener, with no Pivetta to eat the bulk innings.

Another sign from Clever Cora to ownership as a big thankyou for the absolute lack of talent depth?

Has to be one of the worst starting lineups in the last 25 years.

Nice one!

This lineup, on paper, really is all tail. Which probably means they're going to score 13.

Aaaaaand there's the first one already.
