Brez will take center stage soon. What he does when he gets there is the big question. There is definitely need for at least 1 starting pitcher, but then again there is always that need. Listening to the jargon that Brez has been throwing out there recently I don’t think he really wants to do anything at all, so we’ll see if he gets stage fright, and stays behind the curtain, or does something, and come out, and get a curtain call.

He's gone on record in clear words about picking a lane.

And he can see the flowers that were left for Bloom at the fatal third fork in the road.

The catching position is rarely platooned L-R, but rather by pitcher. Besides, Wong has a career reverse split that is over100 points higher v RHP.

But if you are going to carry two catchers as every team does, it's good to have a left handed bat. Also have a catcher that can DH, I think both Wong and Teel can.

Bad idea to have a catcher that can DH, although Adley Rutschman and Cal Raleigh do this quite often. Of course last week, Raleigh was pressed into taking the field from his DH role, and this moved Luis Castillo to take over at DH…

I don't hear that at all. He's saying that he needs to pick a lane either in or out. I don't hear him saying he's out.

The worst road to take, Bloom would find it.

It'll be interesting to see how Teel is worked in next season.

Aside from the risk of losing the DH at some point in the game, what's bad about it? It's also just another option to get a bat in the lineup, not a requirement.

I didn’t say he said he was out. I said I didn’t think they wanted to do anything. He mentioned about picking a lane a few weeks ago, but lately his jargon has been he’s still evaluating, and still has decided which fork in the road to take. If he hasn’t decided yet that is not a good sign to me IMO.

Personally I can't rule out the possibility that he was also getting confused messages from his bosses. We've seen they can be pretty good at those.

We shall judge him by his actions, not his jargon. And judge we shall.

100%. Bloom acted like he spoke though.

Mixed messages from his 3 bosses AND the 10 EVP's? NO!

Fair point. “Can DH” doesn’t mean “must DH”…

If Wong continues with reverse splits, it’s the same as having 2 LHBing catchers, right?

Huh?

vs LHP: 921 OPS

vs RHP: 746 OPS

No reverse platoon split if you look at 2024 by itself. But there is one if you look at his career numbers…

You said "continues with his reverse splits" but this year he has normal splits.

22 AAA:

967 vs LHP

798 vs RHP

I don't see him as a reverse split guy. At the very least, he's a guy you don't need to worry about platooning.

By the end of the year, the MLB career reverse split will be gone if he keeps his current pace.

Why does continues automatically imply 2024, when it was a reply to a response to my career split post?

Geesh.

In 2021 he was about even.

In 2019 he was 70 better v RHP.

Yes, he does not need to be platooned, which was my point, but you chose to criticise me not the guy who want a Wong-Teel platoon.

I remain astounded that Wong can continue to function at all--behind the plate and in this heat.

He is really proving himself, this year.

Most might have been happy with .665 and improved D.

Geesh.

The trend is a regular split if you looked at his current numbers.

My point was I am happy with our catching situation. Our primary catcher right now bats right handed. AND Moon has more good news in that he hits righties just as well if not better.

I was concerned with plethora of left handed bats at other 8 positions projecting into 2025.

righties, Rafaela (CF) and Story (2B)

lefties, Yoshida (DH), Casas (1B), Devers (3B), Duran (LF), Mayer (SS) and Abreu/Anthony (RF).

Do we trade either Anthony or Mayer to get a young, team controlled (3+ years) starting pitcher to balance out the lineup? And do this at the trade deadline?

Or, just getting rid of Yoshida and bring in a righty bat or resign O'Neill as a DH sufficient to balance out the line up (4 righties and 5 lefties) and retain our 3 prospects?

He grew up playing in Houston. He's probably ok with it.

Wong is not a reverse-split guy. Why does this continue to be an argument?

I don't know!!! They should have learned by now to just agree with me.
