Our front office needs some Viagra or something. They're been impotent for a long time now.

Tough to get back in the saddle after you've been shooting blanks for as long as this group has. I don't see the program in general as being particularly fertile.

Interesting comments out of Cora when talking about the factors Moto will be considering before making his decision. Not once did he mention money. Maybe notin can get in touch with him and tell him that that is the only thing considered. It's always about the money.

I turned down my meeting with Moto. He wanted to meet over unagi. And I hate unagi…

Last week you refused to answer my question because you were sure I’d use your opinion against you. Nice to see your views on that behavior have changed. ;)

I would never refuse to attempt to answer your questions notin... good to see that you are paying attention.

This is one of the most encouraging articles I've read about the possible future of Sox pitching.

I'm hopeful change will begin to be seen, very soon.

Yes, an excellent article to outline the theoretical basis for a team's pitching program. It may take a few years to truly produce measurable results . Reminds me of the phrase, there's nothing more wasteful than unrealized potential.

Along the lines of Moon's "very soon", I do hope Breslow realizes that he only has about 46 months left to realize his potential.

Bailey was key in turning around Gausman's career in SF. There could be some quick fixes in the org.

Agreed. It might take more time with some, but we could see some big improvements, "very soon."

46 months, assuming JH stays patient. ;)

With the Yamo option gone, we are left with precious few options and a few teams willing to go toe-to-toe with us on the bidding.

I'm guessing the shame continues another winter (or more,) but here is maybe the best we can expect:

A. One from Monty or Snell plus one from Imanaga, Stroman or Giolito. (This is likely a very long shot hope.)

B. Monty or Snell plus someone like Clevinger or Montas.

C. The 3 SP'er idea: 3 from Imanaga, Stroman, Montas & Gilolito.

D. Monty or Snell plus a trade (Burnes? Cease? ____?)

Getting shut out from all the best on the market is getting tiring.

So Yamamoto goes to the Dodgers, where Japanese will be a second language. Another near miss, just a little off center mass for the Sox . Well try again next time. Other than hire execs, what has Breslow or any F.O. and ownership elite done about pitching.

Oh , I forgot we traded Dugo for 3 more depth pieces.

Maybe, just maybe we could spinoff Yoshida to LAD for one of their now surplus pitchers . The Japanese players do like the sushi in LA better than Legal Seafood.

The paralysis of the analysis continues. Think too much and you get a headache

Man Oh Man, the list is long and strong:

Isaiah Campbell

Justin Slaten

Richard Fitts

Greg Weissert

Cooper Criswell

Jorge Benitez

Helcris Olivares

Nicholas Judice

Noah Song

Among other attributes, the majority of them have the ability to speak, read and write English, enhancing their chances of actually understanding Breslow's development program and terminology.

probably best just to stick with what we have and add a ML P and a Kluber type or 2. Then when we finish in a position to draft in the top 5 we can select another shortstop.

Today there is still hope in the Nation.

No Yamamoto in the AL East means the fifth-best team still has a chance to finish fourth -- or even third -- if proper changes are made soon.

Now is Brez Time: time to sign some starting pitchers, and swing some serious deals; all the Red Sox need are a second baseman who can hit and field, plus 57 home runs that they had from Turner, Duvall and Verdugo (depending on how many HRs are hit by O'Neill in the dozens of games he'll play).

The big splash has to come from a blockbuster trade that the front office of countless veteran execs and VPs have been cooking up for a month now... Let's GO!!!

I like Breslow, but it should be 100000000% obvious that his hands are already tied, and so will anyone else who comes in to do his job.

His only path to building a winner is through the draft, and it's going to take years to hit on and gets some pitchers to the MLB level. Could circumnavigate that wait period if they actually wanted to spend money on pitching. But they wont.

Honeslty, I don't even want a big trade. Whats the point? to try to become the Los Angeles Angels? Look at the best teams, they don't have a guy or two, they are STACKED!!!!

Trading in all your chips to become 1/2 of a good team instead of 1/4 is the most futile thing ever. They needed to spend money. If Breslow is competent, he won't freak out and blow his load just because his boss is cheap.

Making a lot of assumptions.

It's a good thing those Sox prospects don't need thought partners to decipher Breslow's terminology. Just in case, I just went on Amazon and ordered each of them Molecular Physics and Elements of Quantum Chemistry : Introduction to Experiments and Theory

Quick book summary: "It covers not only current theoretical approaches but also new developments such as high-resolution two-photon spectroscopy, ultrashort pulse spectroscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy, optical investigation of single molecules in condensed phase, electroluminescence, and light-emitting diodes."

That should cover it.

O'Neill will hit at least as many HR's as Verdugo hit last year (9). Maybe Story can make up for some of the offensive output as well? Then you need to get another 25 HR's out of Abreu/Duran/Rafaela getting more AB's. I guess there's a chance they can do it in house. If they traded for Polanco, that would definitely get them closer.

Good thing that Henry is famously patient with his CBOs.
