My father was a newspaper man in Boston many years ago and early on )late 20's and early 30's did court reporting. One of his stories was of a prominent banker by the name of Jacob Lipschitz who grew tired of his name and went to court to have it officially changed. When he came from the court, the reporters asked him what he had chosen as his altered name. He said it was Solomon Lipschitz.

It’s been enough time. Breslow fix the team yet or is he still slacking?

I wanted to start the Fire Craig Breslow thread just to get it going as you suggested, but was concerned whether he actually signed a contract yet or not. Plus he needs to get all his new logoed casual wear in the right size.

As far as measurable action on the roster, he's made 2 calls ; One, to Chaim to ask , what were you thinking ? ; and the other to Alex Cora to reminisce over the days when they were on the same roster as players. Beyond that, he is waiting to meet the Fenway night watchman on Ipswich St to see how to get in and work late tonight.

I really really really like the Breslow addition.

But we really have no ideal how good he’s going to be. He seems nice, smart, local, and has a good track record with real game experience.

But he hasn’t done a damn thing yet. Not his fault, but that’s the reality right.

I will continue to live life with my optimistic nature with this in mind.

Truthfully, I don't care how Breslow performs to somebody's liking or is regarded by fans, as long as the team he puts on the field plays like it matters and learns to win at a high level. I do think Chaim's quiet personality and studious look didn't portray that he was in it to win it. He was managing a budget not a baseball team. Cora probably cut Bloom's nuts off with ownership after August 1 anyway.

I, for one, will expect a whole new enthusiasm and much better results because I think JH will give Bressie leeway and budget to make a good first impression and recharge the fan base, as well as Cora too.

He just called the Dodgers to see if they'll take Yoshida, Story and Sale.

As part of the negotiations, LA insists the Sox pay the balance on Bauer's ouch-out, and buy a case of Mannywood wigs -- at cost.

AC already volunteered to wear one at the Winter Meetings (the culture they are achanging!)...

What's with all the C-B's and B-C's?

Ben Cherrington

Chaim Bloom

Craig Breslow

We’re you hoping for Carlos Beltran?

So now we’re waiting for hours to actually sign a contract before we scream for the axe? And I thought Breslow was slacking!!

The outcome of the crapshoot playoff system shows that once you qualify you can win a championship. A little more challenging in the AL ( currently) to get there, but the D'backs with 84 wins are on TV Friday night. Who knew ?

Breslow and Cora need to find about 12 more wins than the '22 and '23 teams to get it going the right way. Two good pitchers and a RH bat from having a shot . I add the RH bat only because I don't think Turner nor Duvall will be the best candidates for a multi-year deal. Consider getting Mitch Garver as a FA after he plays in the WS to split catching with Wong, drop McGuire , and make Yoshi the DH .

According to a certain contingent on this board, I wanted Chaim Bloom back for 10 more years. He's MY GUY!

I think closer to the truth is that no one remembers or really gives a cr*p what you once said or thought. Nothing personal. It's just the nature of sports boards.

I wonder where Bloom lands on his feet. I think he’d be perfect for the Angels

He’ll replace Kim Ng in Miami. They won’t be deterred by his large market floppitude…

LAA might be in a position where they just won’t have the resources to even think about competing for a while. Seems like a good place for Bloom to see what he can bloom with a second chance.

Give him four years, I’m sure he will at least turn around their farm system

I’m not sure what the Angels’ goal are right now besides maybe unloading Trout and Rendon and re-signing Ohtani…

Who would take Rendon for even a portion of his salary?

So are attempts at comedy.

He is such a lost cause. I think he's still owed $115M/4.

I'm not sure if I'd want him for $15M/4.

A match made in heaven.

So In the 2022 draft the Angels drafted 20 pitchers with 20 picks.

They only have 11 pitchers in their top 30 and only 3 from the 22 draft. They easily have one of the worse farms in baseball.

They’re an organization that makes desperate moves. It’s going to be interesting to see their situation unfold.

Any team that even thinks about adopting a strategy of drafting 20 for 20 pitchers is a complete joke.

20 for 20 non pitchers might make some sense, but that is absurd.
