He gave up nothing for a one year rental. It’s not a big deal.

I don’t care if he came to the Red Sox for free. Is that the best option out there? Was trading Dugy to the Yankees the best option?

O'Neill has had an extraordinary amount of difficulty staying on the field for long the past two seasons, with injuries to just about every part of his body.

Sure, just like Nomar's SI cover only indicated he was in shape.

What was the injury that sidelined him that year?

Foot and knee injuries are common for roid users now? Give me a break.

guy is a cancer which is why the Cardinals GAVE him away. To save a few more dollars they traded for this guy rather than signing a dirt dog like Duvall.

Trading Dugo was a good option.

To the Yanks? We'll see.

Was O'Neill the best option for $5.5M? We'll see. If the idea was to save money by replacing Dugo with O'Neill, and we use that money wisely, it's a good plan.

We'll see.

So, he maybe "used" roids 12 years ago, and that causes foot and knee injuries?

A lot of this comes down to whether O'Neill can play more than one outfield position. I don't know if he is a starter, but with Yoshida, Duran, Casas taking up some of those corner/DH positions, having a right handed bat is not a bad idea. It would have been nice to have Verdugo AND O'Neill as a right handed platoon partner.

Given who got traded and O'Neill's own salary - the downside is pretty small ... and he doesn't block any of the Red Sox OF prospects if they make ML level leaps.

Looks like he had 4 trips to the IL in 2022, and 2 in 2023, one of them 2.5 months. That's a lot of trips in 2 seasons.

It is a contract year for O’Neil. I am sure his agent is harping on staying healthy for the whole year and being a good citizen in the locker room!!!!

Maybe we give O’Neil a chance to dh against lefties??? Got to be better than yoshida.

We asked Red Sox assistant team physician, Dr. Jerry Graham, for his opinion on O'Neill . He said , " Tyler (The Body ) O'Neill is the real deal. A steal. The man with appeal. The ladies will squeal. A physical specimen who lifts thousands of pounds . Absolutely free of anabolic steroids. We are going to get him to cut back a bit in the gym to avoid all those workout injuries. Buy your tickets now. "

Yes, it is. It is a major concern.

He costs $5.5M/1. That makes the risk small.

We don't hear much about Duvall starting just 162 games in 2022 and 2023 combined. We all seem fine with signing him.

If you like to look at the bright side, the Dodgers are probably now out of the Yamamoto sweepstakes.

Maybe Kershaw will finally pitch for another team.

I'd love to see him sign with the Sox for 1 year wit a team option.

I think Kershaw is a Dodger for life.

The idea of thinking maybe getting 3 third tier SP'ers might become our best hope for significant rotation improvement.

3 from...

Stroman, Imanaga

Lugo, Clevinger, Giolito, Wacha

Or, two from above plus one of...

Paxton, Flaherty, Mahle or maybe Montas

Oh man, that O'Neill signing is looking better and better! What a bargain. Can you believe how the dumbass Dodgers throw money away?

Disagree. The best hope for significant rotation improvement are third tier brass: Breslow, Bailey and Bloom (the latter for prospect capital he wouldn't trade that will soon be dealt...).

The Standstiller Bees are about to become the Uphiller Bees.

So Verdugo is gone because of the primary reason that he and Cora just weren't seeing eye to eye. I get that . The return for us was pretty puny so we are probably pretty sure that he was shipped out just because.

Now we have hired Tip O'neil essentially to take his place. Tell me please that this franchise is going to start to try to play with the big boys again. Oh i know - i'm just one of those spoiled whiny fans but have to say that most of what we have done recently is embarrassing for me anyway. Is this who we are now?

my gawd has Henry has lowered the expectations of a once great franchise.
