True, but can't getting basic facts right help their cred?

Tony Mazz got a gig on the Sox broadcast even though he runs his mouth more than anyone else.

Mass must of made an impression on JH the day He showed up at the F&M studio, and went on the air with them. Just took a while for the offer to be made.

Seeing as how you respond to most of MOON's posts, wouldn't that make you a 'follower?'

Nah, that would actually make you a stalker.

Nope, I just like to point out the absurdity/hypocrisy of his moonslop.

Correct SPLINT, Jackass is a stalker.

I may need to enter a program for people trying to abstain from responding to trolls.

Nah, you're too weak and soft. You'd be better off putting me on ignore so you don't see any "mean" posts.

Maybe they can also get you a pizza and a puppy for your safe space.

When was the last time Sox had 4 rookie pitchers start in a season?

Bello (#3), Winckowski (#9), Seabold (#11) and Crawford (23) ?

Not sure all were rookies in 2014.

Talking Bogey off the trade table, or perhaps he never was on it, makes me rethink Henry’s spending plan and Bloom’s apparent desire to have better defense at SS in 2023 and beyond.

Maybe they knew he’d nix any deal, but letting him walk for just a comp pick makes zero sense to me. Zero.

I think part of it might be PR, honestly. They have enough flak coming their way already.

Good point. It looks like a commitment to a 10 year homegrown player, good for PR value.

Then if Bogaerts exercises his option and goes elsewhere, it will be on him for abandoning another 3 years in Boston paying multi-millions. If Bogaerts somehow chose to stay he eventually becomes a DH in his final couple years

Getting just a comp pick is not good PR, either. If they’d have made Bogey a fairer offer, and he turned it down, trading him would have been better PR than losing him this winter.

Will Sox fans be any happier or complain less doing it this way?

Honestly moon, it will be a minority of Red Sox fans who won't like this.

I think 95% of Sox fans will not be happy about losing Bogey, including myself. I disliked losing Betts by way more, and would by Devers more, too. I get why we lostBetts and might lose Bogey. It is what it is.

Now, do most Sox fans care or even know the difference between losing him for a comp pick or via trade? I’d say probably not, and I get the PR angle and optics of letting Bogey be the one who walks over a trade, but we are talking about degrees of anger, here.

The only way I see most fans being a little okay with Bogey bolting is if some team way over pays him, and it seems reasonable we didn’t match it, so maybe that’s the winning PR move.

I’m for improving our future, but I realise optics and fan support is part of the business of MLB- the most important in many ways.

I have always considered bogey and devers the cornerstones of this organization. I feel ownership will try to keep them, but we have to know in our hearts that things don’t always work out the way we want.

Between last year and this year, we had a good bit of turnover. Unfortunately injuries destroyed our lineup and rotation this ruining our season! Between this year and next year, we are going to have a lot of turnover.

The homegrown talent is trickling in slowly. Dalbec, Crawford, Duran.

Next year could we see graduations from Bello, Winkowski, Seabold, wong, r hernandez, German and cassas.

But that still means more free agents will need to be signed to fill the gaps.

At what cost? Isn't that the real question? So pay him whatever Boras wants?

If that's how you think then you're not the guy I thought you were.....Pay $30M to a mediocre defensive shortstop hitting dozen home runs? Just for PR sake?

Prudent.

Who says he has to stay at short?

The SOX offered super Betts 300 mil and most are still complaining that he's gone.

They don’t seem any happier we got something for him, so yes, let’s just let Bogey walk for a comp pick to bring the anger down a half a notch.

He’s not getting 30M on the open market. 25AAV, 6 years maybe.

I agree. He is a valuable player, but not a $30 mil although some team may overspend for him. What I thought was fair was 22 AAV. I was told that was ridiculously low. I think it is fair but if it took $25 for 5 I would still do it. More than that is an exercise in overpay.

If someone pays him 30 over 8 years as others have suggested, good luck to them.

You keep on spewing the same old crap. Bogey has a no trade, and wasn’t going anywhere from sources I have heard from, so the Sox don’t have any other option, but to let Bogey walk, so you can keep on saying let Bogey walk for a comp pick all you want, and add to the 100 other times you’ve already said it, but that’s the way it has to be.
