I've been listening to a lot of sports talk radio shows while in New England, this summer. I can see why a certain poster gets so convince Red Sox nation hates Bloom, Cora, Henry and just about every move made. All I hear is absurd talk that we "should be able to get Soto and keep Bogey & Devers.

Here I am thinking too many posters here are unrealistic.

Heading back to Texas, tomorrow. We'll be back in time for the Astros series in Houston.

If Barnes had been able to recover from a 10 IP stretch that ended 2021, how would a bullpen of All Star Form Barnes, Houck, Whitlock, Taylor, Brasier, Sawamura, Davis, Strahm, Diekman strike you?

Might have actually been good enough to keep Whitlock in the rotation.

Both of those things are true.

Baseball forums are filled with delusional fans who think they can run an MLB front office better than the front office professionals.

Some think the more, and bigger columns they write on here the more they know, but that certainly isn’t true on here, After listening to talk shows while in NE, and coming away with the opinion that Bloom, Cora, and JH are HATED is a perfect example of that, and absurd, and, and unrealistic too, but considering the source is not surprising at all.As someone rightly coined the saying.MoonSlop.

That is just dreaming. We wouldn't have enough top prospects to make it happen and then it would only be for 2 1/3 years. He will go to a team that has the prospects to give and who has a reasonable chance of playing in the WS. Still, if one is dreaming we could put together quite a lineup and perhaps lose JDM's money to make the next 2 1/3 years financially possible.

Arrange a lineup of Devers, Soto, Bogey, Story, Dugo and Vazquez. Fill in with scrubs and it would be a scary team to face.

The hosts were just as bad!

For sure, and they start threads known as the "realistic" thread which are, not surprisingly, unrealistic.

The same could be said of you. Mr Wrong Mr. Wrong they are playing your song. If you didn’t like the host of talk radio I sure that means they didn’t have nowhere near the opinions that you do, which is a good thing. Bad to you is great to many. S A L U T E! Anything off from here, and you are out of your element. It’s not a small world after all.

Of course they are. But sports radio people are supposed to be a conduit of knowledge yet somehow I think plenty of forum posters know more than they do…

Think, and know are way two different things, and saying that plenty of forum posters know more than sports radio people are nothing more than tooting their own horns, and patting themselves on the back, which run rampant on here. Unless you are referring to other forums, which then you may have something.

Trolling a rival board with the goal of reigning in enthusiasm by injecting a dose of reality is typically done by stupid people trying to make themselves feel smart…

The hosts were going on and on about how we held onto prospects like Owens and so and so, and how stupid it is for Bloom to hold onto Mayer and others when they can get Soto, and how dumb Henry is for not spending.

No mention of how we held onto Devers, Betts, Bogey and other top prospects. No mention of the reality that Henry does not always want to spend large, but he has brought us 4 rings.

It has Ben insane, the amount of BS these guys spewed. They also just plain got facts wrong like players ages. Just one example was a host saying Plawecki had 3 more years of team control. They went on and on about it.

I had to chuckle about it all. Trust me. The hosts were worse than the worst posters here. Not naming names.

Yeah NE sports radio and journalism in general is atrocious. Too many of them adopt the attitude that complaining is a sign of intelligence, and therefore they dump all over every move and non-move the Sox make. Like Tony Massarotti, say.

Also I’m roughly 110% positive Gerry Callahan is one of those high school jocks who thought he could have gone pro, but he “banged up his knee right before senior year” and then never got that scholarship blah blah blah. So now he writes everything not only from a point of jealousy, but sometimes, FROM VENGEANCE!!!

I don’t always agree with Tony Mas, but when he says the Red Sox Blow, and Suck I’d say that’s pretty much spot on. At least you admitted there was a sign of intelligence. Of course on here it’s mostly we got Cora, and we got Bloom like it’s supposed to give the Red Sox some competitive advantage. If if does that advantage has taken the Red Sox right to the bottom of the AL East. Oh how the gullible took the June trash haul, and actually thought the Red Sox were a good club beating up on the AL West giving daily wildcard updates like it really mattered with 100 games to go playing the better teams. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some are just more realistic than others.

Trust you? Not only no, but hell no. If all the bad, and the worst that you talk about heard you spewing all the time they would do more than chuckle, and would probably on the floor laughing. Once again if someone has a different opinion than you they are the bad, and worst people around. You, and Timmy Wakefield can sit around drinking your red kool aide all you want, but there are many that don’t much to your chagrin. Swi, and Stork come on here all the time to counter balance your points, and I’d say they are more right than wrong. Bad Boys, Bad Boys. Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? Lash out as always, because that’s all you got.

We held on to Betts?? Crap! Apparently I haven't been following the team closely enough.

If the hosts of a local sports radio show are calling out the Sox for not extending Devers and Bogaerts while also saying they could easily acquire and extend Soto, I think calling them out for their fantasy world isn’t necessarily the wrong side.

I do think the Sox could have all three, but the supporting cast would be, to be kind, deeply flawed. The pitching, for example, would be pretty weak. Especially if the Nats insisted on Whitlock as part of the package for Soto. Which is extremely likely given his ability and contract…

I would not squire Soto, or anyone else for that amount of money. Hello Angels how are you doing? I’m all for extending Bogey, and Raffy, but at reasonable cost, which is no high $300M, or $400M contracts. On the other hand I could care less if the Red Sox have a $500M payroll that JH could afford if he wanted too.

JH is a businessman, not an idiot. He's not going to reach into his own pocket for a couple hundred million to subsidize the team.

There you go over analyzing. Why can’t you just accept different opinions?

You're the one complaining about the posters here.

I don't spend my time complaining about everyone else on here. I don't go on nebulous rants about Swihart or moon or anyone. Like who cares?

If I comment on something it'll be directly to a specific quote. I don't lump people in as some pro or anti Bloom group, because I think those arguments are dumb.

"Why can't you accept different opinions?" But you clearly couldn't accept moon's opinion on sports radio. You had to get on a soapbox and say how actually moon is the bad one and that no in fact it's TalkSox posters that are the ones who are wrong. Well if that's true, then why waste your time here? It just doesn't make sense. I have no problem with differing opinions, but what's the point in trying to belittle everyone?

"This place sucks. You're all dumb. I'm going to post here everyday though." Uh, ok? That's a weird hobby.

There you go with that idiot word again that gets used when something is over analyzed on here. I have said many times that I don’t agree with any big $300M-$400M contracts for anybody, so I wasn’t saying JH should do that. All I said was I didn’t care if he did, and you took it from there.

The Angels problem isn't Trout or Ohtani. They signed some truly horrible contracts in the past, but their current issues are due to how extremely horrible their farm system is. The owner just doesn't value the farm system and has put in no money to scouting and developing players.

Spot on!

He is a condescending know-it-all on here who talks down to others like they have no idea what they are talking about if their views don't align with his.

But back in reality (how apropos), he is very rarely right on his predictions or his multitude of trade proposals.

So would you extend Devers for $300mill?

Bear in mind there is no wrong answer. Not like Bloom and Henry scan these boards looking for ideas or support for their plans.

I like to think Bloom is debating about Bogaerts saying out loud. “ Should I just trade X? Or extend him? For what? $125mill? $150mill? $200mill? I need notin’s take.”

But I doubt that happens. Not with that level of specificity anyway…
