Nope & Nope.

He doesn't even get to #1.

#2 was grandma worthy.

Did you watch the whole video of #2, not just the first catch? There were a few catches that were basically Beni's catch.

I couldn't tell if the kids even had their eyes open.

If you think Kimbrel deserved the save more than Beni, it's your right.

I think saves are a stupid stat. I don't typically use them as any sort of metric on here. By definition, the save can ONLY go to the pitcher.

Really? I did not know that.

You know what the point was.

Of course, an OF'er will never get credited with a save, unless he's pitching.

Once an OFer is pitching, he's no longer and OFer, he's actually a pitcher by rule.

@MacCerullo

Today is MLB's tender deadline, and with a full 40-man roster the #RedSox could make some cuts to clear space for future free agent signings.

Who might be on the chopping block? Some possible non-tender candidates.

Taylor - Arb eligible and perpetually injured, they probably keep him around, projected 1.1M

Brasier - Arb is projected 2.3M, should be nontendered

Chang - Unless Arroyo is leaving, what is the purpose of keeping an arb eligible guy like Chang around?

Cordero - Arb eligible at 1.5M, time to let him be free

DHern - lots of potential, probably sticks around another year IMO

It's hard to know what the Sox will do. I could see them keeping all 5, until we start making FA signings or trades.

If we don't think Rafaela & Abreu are ML ready on opening day, maybe we keep Cordero as OF depth.

Chang might be the cheapest cost of the 5, but also the easiest to replace.

Brasier is probably the least liked by fans, but he has had some nice stretches of effectiveness. DHern has nastier stuff, but IMO, I'd rather cut DHern than Brasier.

Taylor is a keeper, unless his prognosis is bleak.

The nontender deadline is generally the date where nothing really happens anyway.

Brasier was bottom 3% in hard hit and bottom 5% in exit velo. His good stretches were solely due to luck. At 35, it's safe to let him go away as he's now due for a raise in arbitration.

Well, we do get a whole new addition to the free agents list. And occasionally some of them are interesting…

He must be the luckiest dude in MLB.

2018-2022 Sox pitchers (21 with 100+ IP)

LD%

9. ERod 20.4

10. Wacha 20.5

11. Brasier 20.5

12. Nate 20.7

13. Sale 20.8

K-BB%

8. ERod 18.1

9. Hembree 17.8

10. Brasier 17.4

11. Porcello 15.2

12. Pivetta 14.9

xFIP-

9. Workman 91

10. Walden 93

11. Brasier 95

12. Wacha 101

13. Porcello 101

WHIP

5. Price 1.21

6. Brasier 1.22

7. Workman 1.25

8. Nate 1.27

Sure, his hard hit% and ERA- were bottom 25 or 30% on the team, but he's been pretty middle of the road overall.

In 2022, he was 4th out of 17 in xFIP- at 88. Only Schreiber, Whitlock and Nate were better.

He was horrible in other categories. I'm fine with cutting him loose, but I think he got by on more than luck.

#RedSox roster news: RHP Jake Reed was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers, and C Caleb Hamilton cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A. Both were DFA’d earlier this week after being claimed following the end of the season.

Bloom still has his man.

Actually, getting a defensive first guy with a platoon bat that can hang out in AAA all year is good.

This might make RHern jump to near the top of the to be DFA'd list.

Luke Voit is available.

Brian Anderson, too.

He’s been hurt the last two season, but can play a decent RF and has good righty doubles power.

Of course he has to get healthy first…

Cody Bellinger.

About as surprising as darkness at night.

Will he be a No Shift Beneficiary? Maybe.

Some of his defensive metrics are actually quite stellar, albeit in limited action sometimes…

Someone will pay more than we think he's worth.

After Nimmo, Bellinger is probably the number two option for CF on the market. This assumes Judge is a RF…

Shows how much the OF market sucks, this year.

If we are again dumpster diving, I suggest we bring up young guys and give them experience.

I am sick and tired of watching Brasier. I rather watch paint dry. Is he really going to make us much better? If he goes on a brief hot streak, how long can he sustain it? How soon will he come down to earth. My grandmother would be more fun to watch and she's been dead for several years.

I want to see every minor leaguer pitch in the spot that Brasier will pitch. I rather go get my teeth pulled. Ugh.

Has anyone mentioned that the Red Sox released Franchy Cordero and all of his skills and athleticism? Now we have Winkowski (the league leader in hard hit balls) in return for Benintendi.

Benintendi is also available if we want him back…
