Rusney was never given the chance to play regularly. He was given only 289 PAs in 2015 and just four this year. Thats still not a lot. I would have liked to see more of him (and less of Chris Young) before I throw him out the window.

Castillo has shown everything, he is a bench player. He continue to not improve and at his age, is isn't going to suddenly flip.

Station, Rusney was billed as a 5 tool guy. Well, the power is not there, the hit tool is suspect and his defense is lacking. He's a speedy guy with a good arm. That's about it

He's a good defender and about a 90WRC+ hitter, your mid market CF. he isn't good enough to play full time here. 2WAR starter somewhere else.

At this point, putting Fat Pablo on the DL is the best thing for all parties involved.

The FO and Farrell handled the entire Pablo situation very, very poorly.

No, Pablo handled the situation very poorly by not following FO directives and showing up looking like a blimp, then sulking like a little bitch about playing time. Stop making excuses for him.

This is a disgrace.

[h=1]Pablo Sandoval’s former trainer tells Herald his ex-client ‘needs the babysitter’ to keep from overeating[/h]

Armchair nutritionists believing Pablo Sandoval has an eating disorder is one thing. When his former trainer says it, that’s something else entirely.

Speaking to the Boston Herald, Phoenix-based trainer Ethan Banning described how Sandoval gained 21 pounds in 21 days during a visit to Venezuela in 2011, nearly costing himself a big contract with the Giants in the process.

“I care about him greatly,” Banning told the Herald. “But it’s a tough love. He needs to be smart enough to say there’s problem. It’s like the alcoholic that wont admit he’s an alcoholic: well, you can’t address that you’re an alcoholic if you don’t ever admit there’s a problem. He’s got to address that.

“He’s proven to me and shown consistently that he’s got to have somebody like me holding his hand doing that. And it’s not an exercise thing, it’s an eating thing. Obviously exercise is an important factor in it, a very important factor, but eating is going to be the component that needs to be managed and monitored. We had a chef on staff that cooked all his meals.”

Banning told the paper that Sandoval worked out hard — sometimes as often as three times a day, six days a week — but that he couldn’t control his diet. The two stopped working together early in 2012.

“You need the babysitter,” Banning told the Herald. “Hey, that’s a pretty harsh statement. At the end of the day, I’m speaking truth. . . . I love the guy.”

[h=1]Dave Dombrowski: Pablo Sandoval undergoes MRI, results Friday[/h]

In a text to WEEI.com, Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski wrote that Pablo Sandoval would be undergoing an MRI on his strained left shoulder Thursday, with the results of the evaluation most likely surfaced Friday.

Sandoval was placed on the 15-day disabled list with the shoulder ailment Wednesday without the team conducting an MRI.

The third baseman said after being placed on the DL, and meeting with Dombrowski, general manager Mike Hazen and manager John Farrell, “I wake up and I can’t even move my arm.”

The MRI Results just came in on the MRI. They were inconclusive as the test could not penetrate that many layers of fat.

The Sox simply made a terrible mistake signing the guy. They failed to recognize what serious issues he had.

The Sox front office had a run of idiocy that started with the joke offer to Lester. Hopefully it's over.

C'mon, they clearly needed to sign two 3b's at the time.

He sounds like a full blow addict. Having people hide your addiction from others, losing a job, people telling you to stop but you don't listen. Denial. Sounds like a drinking or drug addiction.

It would be great if he can turn it around for both him and the Sox as he's pretty much untradeable, but I think this s*** show has just started.

Someone didn't do their homework when signing this guy for sure.

Could this guy possibly have any less value? Like, is it mathematically possible?

He'll need to get some tips from Aaron Hernandez.

"We still haven't heard the results of Pablo Sandoval's Thursday MRI, but there might be more to this injury than originally thought. Tony Massarotti is reporting that Sandoval could seek a second opinion on his shoulder, with word being that he might be headed for surgery."

Nothing good comes of seeing Dr James Andrews.

To be honest, he really seems like he has a serious problem. The fat jokes are getting pretty lame at this point. They even talk about how much effort he puts into working out, but it isn't helping.

"Look, I'm not even playing a doctor on the radio this morning," said McAdam, "but it certainly seems like this guy has some sort of significant eating disorder, because if you're putting that much time in at the gym, and it's supervised, and it's all programmed out, and then you walk into camp, the way he did, you must be eating an awful lot to counteract the work you're doing."

Thank you.

I wouldn't know, because I fortunately do not suffer from an addiction, but my understanding is that a food addiction is no different than an alcohol, cigarette, or drug addiction.

No need for everyone to hate the guy because he's fat.

Well, Cherington is gone. That helps, right?

OK...you are right. He has a serious problem. Losing weight is not easy for anyone, and much harder for some than for others. That said, if I had a serious addiction problem that affected my job performance (or my relationships/family etc) I would get some help. Its pretty clear that Sandoval didn't do that over the winter. While the Sox made a mistake in signing him it is HIS responsibility to do his job to the best of his ability, and if that requires seeking the help of a trainer and dietician to do it, then that is what he should have done. I am sure the Sox would have paid for it. Instead, he just ate all winter, ignoring the issue, and showed up so far out of shape that he could not perform his job. If he had an ounce of integrity he would forfeit his salary until he got in good enough shape to be able to compete for a roster spot.
