  1. I was stunned when I saw that he was starting. Why mess with something that was working? No I would have continued to trot out bodies until they found someone capable of getting 3 outs in the first inning, Bello was nearly lights out in his role. We put this decision with the clown show that is the 3rd base coach and it is clear to me that we are being run by amateurs.
  2. Contreras has not been the problem, he has also made our infield defensive far stronger. We should be discussing other players.
  3. This team is unwatchable. I was never high on Mayer, he never showed me can hit major league pitching and he may never hit major league pitching. Just so f'ing depressing. We needed Early to be lights out, which of course is ridiculous. I knew he wasn't sharp when his first pitch was 93 and was as in the middle of the plate you can get. But he was not the problem, the same old problem was the problem.
  4. Last night showed what is so great about sports: You never really know what's going to happen. Looking back at the first page the posters never expected this team to hang up 9 runs, nobody did.
  5. I backed up that ball Wong hit a number of times. I'm convinced the angle that made it look like the ball disappeared over the wall was simply an angle where the ball was not visible against the yellow background. The angle from home plate shows it hitting the top of the yellow line and bouncing back in play. Poor Connor, thought the HR drought had ended.
  6. Because he has been good as a set up man and I don't trust anyone else in that roll. What's the point in getting to the late innings with a lead if you are going to trot out Weissert in the 8th?
  7. After seeing so many of our top prospects fail to deliver in the Bigs I am struggling to get excited at our players in the minors.
  8. This Bello thing is fascinating to witness, he is the pitcher we all were hoping for right now. But it is just so frustrating that they can't find a body who can get 3 outs to start the game. You can't burn Whit in that role, this bullpen depth is pathetic. Where the f*** is Roman Anthony??????,
  9. Yeah is sure was good to see the old Duran back, hope it continues. I can't believe the Sox are 2 games out of the wild card, that's just so bizarre. Chapman has been the man but he hung a splitter right over the heart of the plate on that final out. And David Hamilton will always suck.
  10. What is killing this team is the lack of production from so many of their top prospects. We all know that prospects miss at the major league level. But I don't think this organization expected to get nothing out of Campbell, Mayer and Anthony to date as recently as a year ago. Hell I'll even throw in Casas as it wasn't that long ago that they saw him as a potential key contributor. I think player development is still a major issue with this team.
  11. Such a shame this team has such good starting pitching and has gone from one of the worst defenses in baseball to one of the best and they still suck. So relieved they didn't let that win get away last night, that would have been devastating. But the error was costly, I'm going to assume we have lost Chapman for today.
  12. I don't think you can blame the front office for Duran hitting .178. These are professional athletes, they need to perform up to expectations and most of them are failing big time.
  13. I guess I did too because I didn't want him traded. When he gets on base he can change games, I didn't want to give up on a player like that.
  14. To me this was the big development of the season. After the WBC we pretty much all expected big things. He was terrible and now he is hurt. Again. I sure didn't see that coming.
  15. Yeah we all knew this all winter, this is not a surprise although I didn't see last place They were counting on much more from players like Anthony and of course Duran. Both have given them nothing and that was not expected. But it was a poor plan from the start, what a shame we are wasting such a good starting staff. And now with the Bello thing looking more promising, as weird as it is, the staff just got stronger.
  16. Too close for me at the end but Chapman did indeed dial it up midway through the Harper at bat. But man this team is borderline unwatchable. When will Duran finally get it going? We have too large of a sample size to believe he is this now.
  17. Connerly Early knows how to pitch. It was a pleasure watching him work the zone last night. Whit and Chapman are the only pen arms I trust. Trevor Story can't get out of here fast enough, one of my least favorite players of all time. How many more LOBs did he have last night? Get this guy out of here.
  18. I will always hate the Devers trade. I also don't judge a player's season on May 9th. If they were going to trade our only big bat at least get something in return.
  19. You gotta admit what happened with Chapman was lucky. The team never saw this coming, few did.
  20. Other than perhaps hockey there is more luck in baseball than any other sport. Willie McCovey hit a bullet that should have won the World Series. He hit it right to Bobby Richardson. That was blind luck. We see hard hit balls caught and bloops fall in every single game.
  21. I saw that as I was looking up the spelling of his first name. LOL. We got blind lucky and should all appreciate that, we need some good news around here.
  22. My random thought of the day is I'm so thankful for Aroldis Chapman. We got blind lucky that Boston was the stop he made where he re-discovered the strike zone and became a bad ass again. He is so fun to watch.
  23. I enjoyed what we did to that punk Valdez and how he came off to everyone for doing that BS. The announcer also speculated that he did it on purpose to get out of the game. LOL.
  24. I was thinking that as I saw the family crying. No matter what happens they will always have this night. What an enjoyable game. I'm happy for Bryan Bello who was indeed pitching for his professional life. I sure never expected that run total with the lineup they put out. I also agree with the earlier post, this season for me is all about the young pitchers they now have. If they have actually found 2-3 reliable young starters filling out a lineup is a lot easier than trying to find that. This season is over, it's all about the future and the development of the young players.
