Smiley-Beni Day 2026

It is with great pleasure to announce the celebration of Smiley-Beni Day 2026!  Smiley-Beni Day is the day the Yankees are elimated from contention for the season.  It is some consolation for the disappointing ending to the Red Sox season.  Let the celebration begin!

Jazz Chisholm is now my favorite Yankee, although I suspect he won't be back next season.

What always hurts in seasons like this is when we say, "The Yankees suck!" it implies how we are worse than "sucks."

Ya, after watching the Yanks get swept by the first-place team, I have to admit I had no elation. Seeing fans slink off in their pinstripes offered some closure, but I was a bit depressed looking at the imperfect players...

... because these were the guys who absolutely demolished the Red Sox. It just shows how far away Boston can be from true contention.

Of course, some of the clubs who made into this postseason reiterate how quickly losers can become winners -- just by using bullpen games night after night (sure, some ex-Red Sox faltered yesterday, but there was Cam Booser again, getting outs in the 8th inning of a one-run game in the Bronx).

The Red Sox couldn’t even beat a Judgeless team, and the Yankees couldn’t beat Tampa with a Judgeless team.

You guys are missing the point.  Even if the Red Sox had finished the season with a worse record than the 2024 Chicago White Sox and had gone 0 and 13 against the Yankees during the regular season, we'd still celebrate Smiley-Beni Day.  It's to enjoy the fall of hubris of boastful Yankee fans.

Despite doing better than the Sox, Smiley Beni day is always worth celebrating with the traditional meal of salmon taretare and a bottle of Grey Goose while singing Smiley Beni carols during the traditional dance around a garden gnome filled with custard.  Raise your badgers high!!

Absolutely a day to celebrate, though its a muted celebration because the FLOPS did another one and out this year. That is getting really old. Still.....my favorite team is the FLOPS; my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Yankmees.

Hard to root for Tampa too, but they play great baseball.  They have a real balanced attack and are very good in all aspects of the game.  I respect the organization and the talent, but I feel that Tampa has a fan base that doesn't deserve it.  I hate that hideous stadium too.
