I always said this.  I root for our guys, even after they leave.  But if Harrison and Durbin both become AS's, good for both of us.  And it is probably almost meaningless, but other GMs could be influenced by the success of our guys after they leave.  It shows that we are dealing talent, and not just scrubs.

Sonny has probably at least 9 starts remaining this regular season, so 20 wins is doable.

Another 20 game winner was Derek Lowe in 2002, when he was 21-8. After he was acquired by the Dodgers following the 2004 season, he had a 54-48 record with a very respectable 3.60 ERA during his 4 seasons in LA.

Lowe was also excellent for the Sox during the 2004 WS, after a not so great 2004 regular season. 

All in all, Lowe was a very good pitcher.

7th best record in MLB.

1 GB NYY (T loss column)

3 GB CHC (2GB losses)

On June 24, 2026 the Sox were 32-46. Last in AL and 29th in MLB!

(Only -7 in run diff, but nobody cared.)

We've gone 30-5 with a +83 run diff

That throw was a lolipop from 190 feet.  Such a weak arm, I continue to be amazed at how poor outfield arms are today.  You rarely see a throw at the plate, it's nearly always up the line even if the arm is strong.  

Someone posted that Durbin is the best defensive 3rd baseball in Red Sox history.  I honestly can't think of a better one.

I would like to personally apologize to Sonny Gray.  After his first few starts I thought we had acquired a lemon. 

The beat goes on.  How much fun is this?

I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone surprised the Sox started to play better and improved their record this season.  But I don't ANYONE could have seen this type of turn around coming. 

If anyone predicted the Sox would be where they are two months ago they'd be called an idiot. 

The crazy thing about this run, is it was hard to believe in it in the beginning because the team was so bad for so long that a good week or two just felt like a blip, but now we are 6 weeks in and this team does nothing but win.  They win and they win, they play good teams and they win, they play LA and they sweep them. 

This is crazy.

Ironically, Bello being demoted from the starting rotation helped solidify the Red Sox' best player: the Bullpen!

We all know that the hitting and HRs have been the biggest reason for the turnaround, which began with a shift of emphasis off Driveline...

... but the biggest surprise has to be Bello becoming the best long reliever in baseball.

Back to good wood: one rumor Cora was fired is he stood by his coaches and defied Breslow's intentions to fire some -- including the batting coaches. The players praised all the guys on their way out, too, so as much as  Tracy deserves credit for using basics like bunting, this whole resurrection of bats from the dead may have more to do with an entire organizational overhaul on how they approach offense.

The greatest winning stretch in franchise history can't just be because of the weather.

Just shows how dead wrong I was for my repeated criticism that Breslow ignored the bullpen.  Apparently he just trusted them instead…

Nobody though 30-5, for sure.

One June 24th, our run differential was -7, so some felt we were maybe a ner .500 team on paper, but way below in wins. Thinking we might play .500 or better ball for the rest of the season was not an insane reach, but yes, 30-5 was expected by nobody. 20-10 was pushing it. 18-12 was likely best case scenario thinking.

Jad’s complaining about the all-female broadcast crew on the Sox telecast last night.  It was Women’s celebration night (or some similar title).  Sox did a similar thing a year or 2 ago IIRC.

The PxP announcer is a Portland Sea Dogs broadcaster.  Personally, I don’t know that I’d want a steady diet of the concept, but it was fine as a break from O’Brien.  Dave’s good at basketball and football, where it’s more continuous PxP (BB) or reviewing the previous play (FB) and there’s not as much dead air to fill as in baseball.
