Touch grass!

I've named my phone grass, FYI.

If there’s a chance to insult people and put them down, you won’t shut the f*** up.  Hell even if it involves making up the chance, because why wait for people to be wrong when blatantly lie?  But any time someone asks you to follow up with useful information, and suddenly you go silent or say something stupid like “we’ve gone over this already.”

So f***ing useless.

Some of us don’t live in New England and were more swamped with stories about why a team loaded with pitching injuries would acquire Braxton Garrett and that Cookie Monster was the guest singer during the 7th inning stretch…

That’s a point I’ve brought up before about not being around NE you don’t know nowhere near all the things that get said, and done. Nothing derogatory just a fact. NESN had plenty of interviews yesterday, and today as did the local venues with good information, and discussion. As always good talking to you, and have a good day.

White has a career OPS+ of 72. Eaton has a career OPS+ of 70.  As offensive upgrades go, this is redefining minimal…

OPS+ is positionally adjusted and may not reflect the positions they're going to play moving forward.  Eaton has played more RF, while WHite has played more LF.  There actual OPS numbers are a career .623 to a career .604.  Still minimal but statistically not insignificanly bigger than .02

Also if you look at the RAW 2026 numbers White has a .691 OPS vs. a .563 OPS that's pretty significant.

White also has a .758 OPS vs. LHP this year, which is what I'm hoping they use him for.

The upgrade might be just a little bit better than what you're giving it credit for.

Well since Abreu, and RAF Man pretty much play everyday whom he would fill in for that only leaves Duran.

That's what I was assuming, seems logical.

When the Sox got Chris Sale from the White Sox they traded their top 2 prospects, Moncada and Kopech. How did they turn out. Average players at best.

That was DD's superpower-trading suspect prospects for value before the rest of the league got clued in.  Not many prospects wither and die on the vine with DD.

Rutschman is a stud behind the plate and with the bat.  He’s still in his prime.  He has great chance to have a career like Varitek.

Hopefully, Breslow offloaded the right minor leaguers.  I wouldn’t call any of them blue chippers.  Adley is a proven star performer.

Adley is among the best prospects I have ever seen.  He went from #1/1 to #1 prospect.  The injuries are a risk, but as I said even before the trade, Adley might still be the best all-around catcher in baseball.

The deal makes more sense if they extend Adley.

The rumor was that the hold up in the trade was the medicals, and that makes 100% sense.

But there is also a slight chance that they might've wanted to discuss an extension before finalizing.

Like this trade, or not, but you can’t really say the chemistry has not been changed. We replaced a catcher who knows the staff very well and has been excellent on defence and calling games., with someone who has to come in and learn the entire staff. Not saying it won’t work, but there are few things a team can do that has the potential to disrupt chemistry more than switching up your catching 2/3rd’s through the season when the team is on fire.

I don’t think Narvaez going will have any effect on this team at all.  Now, bringing a new starting outfielder as well as a new starting shortstop etc.  could have a great affect on a group of guys who have played as a team for a good stretch of time now.  We’ll see how it all works out.

I don't disagree, but part of that is offset by AR having a great defensive reputation and knowing all the ALE hitters.

I think there's a very high probability they'll extend Rutschman.

Hope so, but the new CBA might impact things..

Brez said White could spell Rafaela or Abreu once in awhile. He didn't mention Duran (who has a lot less vowels in his name).

Vanna White, Eli's sister, says you can buy more vowels if you need them.

Maybe they play everyday because we have no one that can play CF or RF?

And yet still derogatory.

The entire point was I didn’t know what was being said locally.  In the future, I’ll make sure to get my Boston perspectives lest I distract you from deriding moon for once being a fan of Devers…

but normally player value is highest at the deadline,

Not necessarily.  If a team is looking to compete, the recency factor is important.  IMHO, Duran is a better move for a team that has given up on 2026.

I just found White redundant with Eaton.

This likely means Romy gets demoted.  Not sure what other non-starters have options..

I though Duran might have been a good buy low opportunity for some teams.  And maybe he was but Breslow preferred not selling low…

With this trade, the Sox are paying a premium for a name.

Not really.  Like with all players, you extrapolate his results and assess his injuries.  They aren't saying "oh, It's Rutschman!".

I think it means they are going to DFA Eaton once Story comes off the IL.

Over Gasper and/or Harris?

One of the funny things is the Sox dumped a 23 year old SS who never played 100 games in a season in his career for a rando reliever.

Then Breslow spent 3 of his top 5 prospects for a guy who has had trouble staying healthy.  Adley is good - but the Sox sent a huge haul.  The only mitigating factor is that Eyanson is the only sure-ish thing of the pile.

For some reason, this feels like one of the more roster-challenged deadlines I've seen.  Correct me if I miss something:

  • We currently have 12 position players on the 26 and that doesn't include Narvaez.
  • Rutschman takes the #13 spot.
  • White is almost an automatic add.
  • So demote Sogard, I think?  Romy, just to get him in the zone again?

And just so while I'm playing with the roster, does Miller make the 26, or do they send him down for Bailey to look at?  Or send Bennett or Tolle down for two weeks?

What does his prospect status have to do with anything at this point? He's been in the league for years.

He was the best all around catcher prior to his injuries. Now? Hard to bet on it if he can't stay on the field.

'25

left oblique - misses a month

right oblique - misses a month

'26

ankle - 10 day

concussion - 7 day

left wrist - 3-4 weeks?

Gasper can hit. I forgot about Harris!

Gasper is the third catcher, but when Rutschman gets activated, Rogers takes that role.

Does Rogers have options? How does the 4 man bench work when Adley returns? Rogers, Wong, White and Jones? No infielders (barring Wong’s limited INF time)?

671 OPS since May 1.

673 OPS 2025.

709 OPS 2024.

For 1.5 years and the current injury streak, it's an overpay. He needs to stay healthy and perform at a high level to be worth it. I like the guy, but he needs to turn it around a little bit if the trade is going to be worth it.

Rogers has zero options. He's DFA'd when Adley is ready.

Wong/White/Jones/Sogard (Mona/Seigler starting)

IDK. Maybe Jones is DFA'd and the Sox believe nobody will claim him post deadline?
