Embarrassed by the Yankees yet again 6-1.

The only good news is Ranger Suarez didn't have a bad outing.

But this Red Sox offense is still simply putrid.

I'd like the name of the Boston area scout who let Cam Schlitter slip through the Sox fingers when he was in their backyard.

Why?

Schlitter wasn’t even the best pitcher on his team at Northeastern, which isn’t a school that pumps out athletes.

Plus after being drafted in the 7th round, Schlitter made exactly ZERO Top 100 prospect lists.  Never ranked by BA, MLB.com or Baseball Prospectus.

He came out of nowhere, sort of like Bello did in Boston…

Raffy's becoming a complete ballplayer much to Fred's dislike.

He did strike out in his first AB in spring training.  That was enough for Fred to write him off.

You would think the first thing the 1st base coach would tell the runner is how many outs there are.

Or else Ceddanne thought there was a play at 2nd.

A very fine demonstration of pitching by Suarez. Up and down, change of speed and great command. That defines what pitching is all about.

Was talking with some Yankee fans on the subway about that.  Maddux and Key both came up.  It's beautiful to watch.

So who would you have used with Whitlock out?  Like it or not, Slaten is the next best guy right now after Chapman.

RS fans judge players on an at bat by at bat basis.

And file away bad games forever.

1-Tracy probably should've had Mayer sacrificing in the 3rd.  That's early, but it already looked like a pitchers' duel.  And probably more importantly, Mayer has a .570 OPS.

2-Similar situation in the 7th when Gasper got on to open up the inning.  Having Durbin sacrifice should've been automatic.  No doubt in my mind.

3-Was La Sorsa the best available left to face Jazz?  Gamboa is an unknown, and Coulombe isn't exactly lighting it up.  But La Sorsa is lucky to even have a job in the pros.  Not to mention the fact that Jazz (SSS) has one HR v La Sorsa in 4 career ABs.  That was a bad spot to test out La Sorsa.

This is the second time in his last 4 appearances that Slaten has given up 4 runs in less than an inning.🤭

Mayer has been the most long-awaited, over-rated, over-hyped dud i've seen in a long time.

He's 23 years old with not even 300 career MLB at bats.

They can't all be Mookie Betts

He slipped through a lot of fingers drafted in the 7th round.  Heck, the Yankees wouldn't have waited that long if they knew what he was.

No one has a crystal ball.  You don't know how every 17 year old is going to mentally and physically mature over the next several years.

And on one hard hit ball both times?

Overhyped? He's been injured every season. The comparison all along has been Brandon Crawford. Seems like he's on track for that TBH.

Slaten had another big blowup vs MN on 5/22. Just something to keep in mind post IL stint.

Mayer is a FB hitter. Schlitter is a FB pitcher. Let Mayer swing away at that spot or send him to AAA.

He was over hyped before he was even drafted. Now he’s just a platooning SS who gets pinched hit for.
