Mayer's struggles at the plate should not be a surprise to anyone. I totally expected it, he has yet to prove that he can hit major league pitching and I'm not confident he ever will.  That's why I had so many concerns about this lineup at the start of ST, not that I was alone. They were depending on players like Story and Mayer and I guess expected Anthony to be Fred Lynn and that always gave me concern.

Looks like the move isn't going down well with Sox players. Story wants to "clear the air" with Breslow, Whitlock said neither Henry or Kennedy spoke to the team after the fact, and players weren't asked if they thought this was a good idea. All of this per Cotillo and Milliken. Not a great look and that presser wasn't great.

What do you expect with 3 Stooges at the top of the totem pole.

Which feeds a narrative that the Sox have become a soulless corporate entity with zero people skills.

Agree on that, and Mr. Personality Brez May be worse that Bloom.

The old curmudgeons, Shaughnessy and Buckley, both say Breslow is the one who should have been axed.

I guess we'll find out.

Cora should have been gone with Bloom, and Brez should be gone with Cora IMO.

I'd live with Story and platoon Mayer/Durbin.

Move Rafaela to 2B .  Play Duran everyday in CF.  Platoon Rafaela, Durban And Mayer at 2nd an 3rd.

If you had half a clue about things, which you don’t you’d still be a full clue off.

From you, that's a shining compliment.

The bums who take the field don’t get a vote. They aren’t entitled to be consulted, only informed that they have a new boss.

Rafaela is wasted at 2B. Keep him in CF and trade Duran.

What a crock.  I don't recall you saying anything last season when Anthony was our best hitter in July and August.

I agree he has struggled this season.  I don't agree this is the "real" Anthony of the sub-.700 OPS.

Gee.  If that's the standard corporate attitude, I wonder why the employees don't give a crap about the organization.

Going to give them this 5 weeks coming up to see if what they did yesterday changes the direction of what looks like 1963 or 64 or 65 or 66 all over again to me. We will know by June 1st and I am not going to hold my breath while I wait to pull out my sledgehammer on the perps. Someone remind me what this guy ever did to get this GM job to begin with.

Here's a trick question: how long will it take Tracy to even suggest to Story a move to 2B?

Answer: never.

If Story wanted Cora to stick around, he should have been a team leader like Breggie. Instead, he watched this team sink.

It does seem that he was a bigger loss than anyone realized at the time.

As JH himself said on a special guest appearance on the Felger, and Mazz show years ago the LL runs the Red Sox.
