Regardless, I have a hard time believing that swapping Duran/Anthony in the batting order makes a team go from worst from first.  Nor do I believe that playing a SS who is better suited for 2b would have this giant effect.  Really, I dont think a manager needs to be perfect.  I think most of the time, the roster is what it is and that GM/CBO is a much much much more important job.

If this team goes on a run now, I dont think its because new manager is better.  I think if anything, maybe the change kicked some in the rear.  Or maybe its just guys evening out as the sample gets larger.  Some WBC hangovers wearing off.

Of course, if the team finishes with a better winning % without Cora than they did with him, Bres will take a victory lap.  Cuz hes an azz.

So, what happens now? The Front Office starts interviewing candidates for all of these 'interim' coach positions? Or do they hold off and work the trading permutations before the deadline and only then worry about the coaching searches? Or do they let the interim coaches ride for the rest of the season?

I'm really curious about the trade market between now and the deadline: do they talk to Tracy about these? Or leave him out of those conversations?

Im worried that Breslow will purposefully let Tracy ride it out to buy himself next year.  Well , lets see how my team does with a non-rookie manager.

I just dont like how Breslow gets to dodge accountability here.

The interim status will hold through the end of the year and then they'll re-evaluate. Chad Tracey will probably keep the manager's title and he'll get to pick his own staff.

Half of the current Sox have played for Trace before. I think it's just uncomfortable for Story because he was buddies with Cora.

Trace Thompson.

Whatever happens with the Sox is now entirely due to Brez. Not sure he's going to dodge anything. Managing the Sox shouldn't be a lifetime gig.

Hes not even the Chad Tracy I thought he was. Hes not the one who played 3b for the dbacks.

Im just mad that it was the stiff who ended it.  Not that it ended.

I just learned that right now.   Too many Chad Tracy’s.  Also too many Logan Allen’s.

The world is a confusing place…

He won't be able to anymore.

So, Cora was Brez's one get out of jail free card?

It was a stupid set up to begin with. I think they were both at fault but even worse is having competing visions that pretty much guarantees failure.

Managers and GMs/CBOs have had opposing visions for about as long as those positions have existed, and Cora had a way of letting it be known with just enough shade to make it not look like he was attacking his boss.

I always had a feeling the upper brass liked Cora so much that maybe he'd outlast Brez or even replace him, someday. That ain't happening.

Is it time to sit Duran and let yoshida dh????

No.  I see very little chance that Yoshida provides more offense (including speed) than Abreu.

I watched Mayer a lot in the minor leagues. Love the swing and the eye at the plate. he has the ability to be a perennial all star with big numbers!

I think he just needs time to work on pitch recognition because he did miss so much baseball due to injuries the past 3 years!

Over the past 14 days:

  • Narvaez .945
  • Mayer   .844
  • Monasterio .783
  • Durbin   .726

Basically, the 4 players with the most complaints.

Hey, Cora was DD's #1 pick, today.

Does that mean anything to the "Wish we still had DD" fans?

I doubt DD gets fired this year.  Maybe next year.

Maybe the same time as Brez.

Speaking of DD, here is what he may leave the next GM:

(AAV/yrs)

$42M x 2 Wheeler- 36 y/0

$30M x 5 Schwarber- 33

$27M x 8 Turner- 33

$27M x 5 Luzardo (begins in '27)- 29

$25M x 6 Harper- 33

$25M x 5 Nola-33

$15M x 3 Realmuto 35

So like $900 million tied up in 7 players, only one of whom is under 33.  That’s pretty bad, even for Dombrowski…

… and that might be why he didn’t ask about Abreu..
