I guessing yamamoto won mvp? Blue jays couldn’t hit the guy. Unreal.

I thought they might give it to Ohtani for obvious reasons but Yamamoto deserved it. Dude was absolutely amazing

The blue jays will feel this one for years to come.

It's going to haunt them for years. They might not get this close for a decade or more. Plenty of chances to win it, but you have to tip your hat to the Dodgers - relentless.

One of the best series I've seen in a long time.

The Dodgers feel like they might just be getting a little old, however.

Easily the MVP, which is saying something with Ohtani's performance.

It doesn't feel like it now, but giving $300m to a pitcher that had never played in the MLB was a big risk. Man is it paying off.

Amazing series!   I thoiught Ohtani was teh best pitcher I'd seen until I saw Yamamoto=

Love teh Dodgers, since I lived so long in LA, and  saw real close what happens when you move from a cheap-aass owner who cares only about profits (McCourt--when I got to LA, the common phtrase was "it's ONLY the Dodgers') to a group that cares about winning and its fans.     (Also, of course, because I like to see great RS players play, and this is  often a good place to find them!)

We can see on display the great importance of having the highest of high talent added to the roster when it becomes available.

Not settling for the next level of talent.

Not building a 26 man roster of all players slightly above mediocrity.

Not going large but not long.

You gotta go bold, and you gotta go large and long, at least at strategic moments in the arc of building a championship team.

Yes, there are scattered examples of teams that did not go bold but still won a ring, but rolling the dice like that is getting tiresome.

Considering the circumstances and what was at stake, last night was certainly one of the greatest, most exciting, drama packed, edge of your seat baseball games of all time. A game for the ages. And the Dodgers winning is by no means "killing baseball". It was baseball at its best. That can only be good for the sport.

Agree 100%. Toronto could just of easily won too.

Here’s to hoping the 2026 Boston Red Sox Slay the LA Dodgers in next years World Series

Alas, I will take that bet at whatever odds you want.

I'd prefer watching us "slay" DD's Phillies.

The Red Sox got to worry about slaying the Yankees, or Toronto first. The Yankees will especially get better, and Cole will be back at some point.

I will always bet on my Sox.

The Dodgers are ruining baseball.

You mean by showcasing the best players and winning the most games , by selling out a 50,000+ stadium, and selling more gear than any other team?  By bringing in the best international players along with their millions of fans?  and generating more revenue than any other team?   And providing two of the greatest performances in baseball history by players in a World Series?   You need to put down whatever you're smoking and buy season tix to the Marlins.

Not to mention the super mega TV revenue stream.

I bet no Series ever had two spectacular defensive gems prevent Game Seven walk-offs.

Rojas saved the Series twice in the 9th, with his HR and that stop up the middle, and underrated off-balance perfect gun for the force at the plate. The Pages catch was even more unbelievable, jumping over Kike -- lying down facing away from the plate... Roberts had just put him in the game, and no one else in either dugout could make that play covering a hundred yards with his strides. Poor Clement.

I kinda think Kike would have had it; seemed he had a bead on it. Can you imagine the feeling if the collision had knocked the ball loose?

the way the Dodgers are built (and i by no means think they'll stand pat this offseason) they are likely to play in a number of World Series over the next decade.

meanwhile....John Henry is somewhere patting himself on the back for making the playoffs for the first time in 4 years.

Has he said anything to hint he's proud of what "he" did?

not that i'm aware of.

I'm not so sure he feels all that great about 2025.

He knows they got caught in another lie (about getting help after the Devers dump.)

For playing in the playoffs and not reaching the 2nd CBT line by trading Devers (more important to him).

It seemed weird that the word was that we did not have to take Hicks, but we never did hear what else would have changed in the deal. Maybe no Harrison and some lesser arm, instead.

No Hicks and we'd have stayed under.

They must have known they'd be over. Did they try to move other salary after that trade?

I think they did like his arm.

What does Hicks remember about Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow’s pursuit of him in the months leading up to the ‘24 season?

“I just remember they came after me pretty hard, and they were in on me, and it was between them and the Giants,” Hicks said. “So I'm just excited to be here and feel wanted.”

I guess they felt he was worth going over the tax line for.

That they could "fix" him.

That was my assumption. Giants didn't want him and the Sox wanted that contract. Thought they could turn him around and make him the next Chapman.

It is, going in disadvantaged when you didnt have to be is tiresome.  E.G. Yoshida at DH/batting clean-up in a huge game.

(not to pick on him, Ive got plenty of otehr examples)
