Volpe must enjoy getting booed.

Uh, they're not saying "Boo," they're saying "Boo-urns, Boo-urns."

I agree. The Yankems look neutered.

Winning a game 1-0 is very rare.  Pitching advantage tomorrow so they better win this series. I said coming in they needed 3 out of 4. They’re in position to do it.

Btw, the Sox have won the season series against the Yankems with this win tonight.

7-1 vs Yankees this season thus far.  This team should make the playoffs.

Tonight’s game reminded me of an old style doubleheader I attended vs. the Yankees at the original Yankee Stadium, must have been 1972 or 1973; Sox took both by scores of 2-1 and 1-0.

Garcia is completely guessing.  He is not watching the ball.  He can get away with that in the minors, but not in the bigs.  Pitchers are going to continue to throw curve balls low and outside.  Not good.

Anthony bats 3d and K'd 3 times and was 0 for 4.  Garcia got a walk and 3 K's.  Plus this was his first freaking MLB game.  He looked awful in his first at bat, but not as bad later.

Yankee pitchers held the Sox to 1 run and 6 hits--3 of them by Bregman--in 9 innings.  They pitched well, but Bello and company pitched better.  In 9 innings the Yankees never had an RISP.

No errors.  A well played game.  Three Sox played 2d base.  Two played 1b.  And two played CF.  Two Sox pinch hitters--one, Lowe, doubled and scored the winning run driven in by Wong (2/4).

What a great memory for you.

Boone backs up Volpe's dumb play in the 9th. Boone's suffering from too many gut punches.

Sox didn't score in the 9th thanks to Volpe nailing Duran at home plate on a grounder he had to go to his right to get.

Its not luck when you get back standing up. He was just the right distance.

Agree.  He got back easily.  I suspect Volpe reacted to the Yankees second baseman standing on 2b.  Attendance slipped to 46K tonight--but their average is 42,753.

no signs of slowing down with age at all. Brez needs to lock him up for another year.

I'd give him $13M/1 with option for 2nd year at $12M and $2M buy out.

Essentially, it's $15M/1 or $25M/2.

That was the best game I’ve ever seen Bello pitch. He was hitting his corners all night long-and with good velocity.

Checking the standings it appears only the Brewers have a reasonable chance of winning 100 games or more this season. There are two teams, White Sox and Rockies, guaranteed to lose 100 or more games this season.

What we are witnessing with Chapman is legendary.

Every year I  feel like I get a couple of big calls right and a couple of big calls wrong.

Insisting we should trade Chapman for a haul is the most wrong I've been in quite a while.

What a win!!! Anything but 3 out of 4 would be disappointing for the Sox.

I disagree. 4 out of 4 would not be disappointing.

You were far from being alone about trading Chappy.

Kudos to Sox pitchers, who blank the Yanks, despite half the Boston batters swinging at pitches underground all night... tied a record with a .000 BABUG (batting average on balls underground).

I've never been more wrong about a Red Sox offseason acquisition than Chapman.

If he's not Boston's '25 MVP, he's definitely been the most consistent star.

Also, happy for Bello -- and for Red Sox Nation, because he's the second-best starter.

And welcome to The Show, Password Jerry Garcia:

22-12 over the last 3 seasons. They are our bitch.

I'm most excited at the performances of Bello. He is finally realizing all this talent which has tantalized us for  several seasons.  Man the Yankees just play such sloppy defense, their lineup is not deep at all.  But Duran got his footwork screwed up and despite what the announcer claimed that play was close when it didn't have to be.

We have had a lot of great closers over the years. But I don't remember any of them being as dominant as Chapman has been this season.
