Bernardino keeps throwing pitches in the middle and getting away with it.  Nevertheless, 2.1 scoreless IP.

We've seen the other side of it when they don't miss. Anytime one of the relievers can come in and not walk 2, hit a batter and give up a hit to score multiple runs is a success in my book.

Not always right, I see.

Nope. Not always-but I have a pretty good track record. The Flops can’t depend on 9th inning walkoff HRs to win. That’s a recipe for failure. And they aren’t going to win many games if they keep playing sloppy baseball like they did last night.

Show us your track record, we'd all love to see it. 🙃

30-20 at home....not sure when we were 10 games over .500

It's been a while for sure. I like their energy right now. The newbies are living up to their hype so far. There's a pulse............... finally.

5-4 Sox. Give it a rest.

Even when we seem to be getting many breaks and are gelling, Fred remains Fred.

This is obviously why this is so exciting.  The play of the young guys is so important. The extensions for Bello and Cedanne look pretty good right now.  Just need Mayer to make better contact and get on base more, his defense passses the look test.  But last night was as much fun as I've had in a while watching the Sox.

It adds to the excitement with so many young guys, Narvaez, Anthony, Rafaela, Abreu and Mayer anchored by veterans Bregman, Story, Yoshida, Gonzalez, Refsnyder and Duran.

Exciting times...Positional players are set. Now go get us more quality pitchers.

Now now, we know I’m the only one with a clean record around here… 🧠

there's a weird vibe going on right now..it's like they are just winning, not like Moneyball A's but has a similar vibe in that it's about team philosophy and pitching v. just straight talent and conventional wisdom of what winning teams do.

The offense has been rejuvenated by Story and Rafaela stepping it up hugely, and Anthony and Mayer starting to pitch in.  Having so many young players in the lineup now really amps up the energy level.

Young guys who have never been there/done it, fighting for playing time, hoping for big paydays.

Just hope and pray we don't ruin them for life!

Fairbanks is a pretty good closer, but he found out last night that closing ain't easy.  The Sox are fortunate to have Chapman, who is having what is probably a Hall of Fame career despite often not getting the recognition that he should. He is one of the best to ever do it.

not to mention the recent great pitching by our starters, Chapman being Chapman and Breggie coming back. i really, really hope they extend/resign him whatever. an 8 game winning streak (and 10 of 11) sure brings out the optimism.

Yes on Bregman, especially since it was revealed today that he was working with Ceddanne in the cages the past month.

For those afraid to extend someone in their 30s, what dollar value can be put on a guy who is respected as an player-coach by his teammates, not to mention as a player-bench coach by his manager?

I remain concerned about this lineup. But I'd also be thrilled to be wrong.  I'm in serious wait and see mode but enjoying every moment of this hot streak.

But on a side note watching the games is a frustrating experience.  I freaking hate that thing they do with the lights after a walkoff at Fenway.  It may look cool in person but it screws up the enjoyment of the moment for the tv viewers.  As for NESN I sure miss Eck.  I am also forced to mute the sound during the bottom of the 2nd as they spend that half of the inning interviewing someone about some charity.  That has grown annoying.

End of old guy rant.

I like your rant...I agree, the light dark show does not work for TV--it looks terrible and it takes away from the excitement. The in-game interviews haunt me on NESN for hockey too--in that case talking over intense action, missing a goal call, etc. I'm into old guy rants as an old guy. I miss Eck and Remy.

I also find it funny that 2 guys that were being shopped by the media most of the last few months--Rafaela and Duran--have been so good during the streak and both have taken off in a number of ways. You have to trust the talent of guys and Romy/Refsnyder have been the ultimate righty v. lefty hitters--these are the ways of winning if you execute and how it makes Cora look like a genius too.
