i always considered Eovaldi a gamer, especially after the 8 innings in L.A., despite the eventual loss of that 1 game .

I'd rather have a gamer than some gamey meat slob throwing up center cuts

We could have re-signed him but Henry was too cheap.
Just like now

Corable gives a 'not gonna happen' regarding Devers playing 1st.

If the Sox don't make the PO's, perhaps that idiotic manager can be fired. I certainly hope so.

Look at the one constant over the last 3 years of sub to even .500 baseball, now  again this year.   It's Cora  ( and Devers )    2018 is receding far into the night mist .

If we aren't used to mediocrity by now, we never will be.

If we are going to finish 81-81, I want to all the young guys.

I get no joy watching Chris Story hit.

NESN makes a good point.

Schwarber didn't have any issues playing 1B. Why do we baby Devers? What a wuss.

Millar gave several examples of players ,  even Harper , who made the adjustment and contributed further to their teams.

I don't mind Cora making decisions, even when not agreeing, but at a minimum he should explain the reasoning .  It seems clear there is some sort of problem going on among the FO, Cora,  Devers, whoever, but as in the past, there are no clear cut direction for these guys.

A coherent 1B alternate should have been on the table a week or two before Casas got hurt , just based on his performance.

Uh huh.  I’m trying to refrain from laughing at the internet tough guy routine.

Not a tough guy routine. If I told Cora what I really thought of him, he'd give me a hug and say ' 'why can't we be friends?'

Thanks to Chris Martin, the Sox were able to improve up to 12 K's  , not quite half the outs in a game.

Sox have met or exceeded double digit K's in 20 of 37 games . 1-5 in last 6  , averaging 3.7 RPG.

Good thing it is still early and nobody else is winning bigly.

You can almost sense in the first couple innings when this team just doesn't  have anything working.

This was after a day off .  Story is as lost as he can be OPS'ing .398 in last 7 .

Why are they so hesitant calling up the kids from the farm?

Because their number one goal is to piss talksox posters off.

You do realize they are all of 2 games out of first place, right?

I just hate how this bullpen can’t protect a 2 run lead, but bring ‘em in with a 6 run deficit and they give you 5 shutout innings…

Different pitchers tonight than those who cannot complete an out nor inning .  Bernie and  Newcomb had no pressure , so could just work on their grips and pitch shape.     Struck out 7 between them.

This is why I say Cora has to play BP roulette every night .  He never knows what is in the box of chocolates

They're not exactly a gritty team.

Will Flemming did his best on the radio. I listened to Giolito's last inning in the car and Flemming was quite entertaining.

Instead of whining like a retired Hall of Fame voice, Flemming described the zeal of Rangers' hitters running to the bat rack and home plate to hack at Gio's 90 mph slowball and high change-ups.

I'm afraid you might be right. I'm not sure if that's something you can learn or obtain, somehow.

Fortunately its basketball playoff time, if you're into that. Great game last night, Indy v Cleveland. I switched over to that game instead of watching the Flops lose again.  Year after year of mediocrity with, it seems, another mediocre year on tap this year.
