Tolle had a rough first start with Woo. 5 IP, 7H, 5ER, 1BB, 3K (2 HRs) Mata pitched well in relief, but you have to wonder, if his days are numbered with the Sox. Campbell homered in the 6-3 loss. He had 2 hits and a HBP.

POR lost 3-1 to drop 3 games under .500. Mullins pitched well (2.28 ERA) Castro is heating up and had 2 hits.

GRE won 2-1, as Sansone pitched well. They are 2 over .500. Jo Garcia had an RBI. Mussett had 3 hits.

SAL won 8-7 but has no chance of reaching .500. Martin went 4-5, Salazar 3-3 and Gonzales & Azocar each had 2 hits.

Tolle was too hyped and over throwing in the 1st two innings

I'm not worried about him, at all.

Tolle could've had a scoreless top of the 1st if Romero didn't boot an easy DP grounder.

Later in the frame, Thompson made a shoestring catch in center that one ump ruled as an out, before another wrong ump overruled (clearly a catch on three TV replays).

But two HRs -- the first a grand slam that was so gone none of the outfielders moved a muscle. The second homer Tolle was cool enough not to look at (mimicking his outfielders on the salami). Two hits were by guys who already made the majors...

After the 1st, Tolle threw five scoreless innings.

After he settled down, he was pretty impressive

I'm still amazed that 7 of our top 9 prospects are pitchers. Talk about a pendulum!

20 of our top 33 are, too.

With all the position player graduations, the remaining high end talent are the arms!!!!

but the arms are fragile! Just ask about Valero

That's where the quantity comes in handy.

It's not enough to just have quality, anymore.

Crochet 6 years through prime.

Bello 5 years through prime.

Crawford 3 arbs left. Wink & Kelly, too

Bernardino 4 arbs left.

Pre arb: Slaten, Dobbins, Criswell, Weissert, Harrison, Fitts, Murphy, I Campbell & Moran.

That's just the 40 man roster.

Tolle, Witherspoon, Valera, Clarke, Perales

Early, Sandlin, Phillips, Eyanson, Fajardo

Paez, Delzine, Aita, Rivera, Holobetz, Travieso

Uberstine, Mullins, Wehunt, Monegro, McShane

That's over 20 in the minors.

what does it look like for position players???

The position player situation is more known. I hesitate to use the word "certain," but we have so many key players locked up for 3+ years, along with depth at several positions.

Bregman and Refsnyder are the only one year control guys, but I really think Bregman loves Boston and will return. He's the key, IMO.

1B is open, but to me, it's one of the easier positions to fill, and we still have Casas and maybe Campbell of some converted other position player to step in. Romy looks damn good, too. Yoshida is the next guy w 2 yrs, and that's better he's not 3+.

For once, we have the catcher position locked up. Mayer's health is the next big key, as it could finally solve our 2B issue (Mayer or Story at 2B.)

Duran 3 years and Story 2-3 years. Romy, Wong & Casas, too

Abreu 4 years! DHam, too

5 years Narvaez & Mayer

6 years Rafaela

8 years Campbell

9 Anthony

That's a solid 9-10 not counting Bregman or Ref, now Yoshida & Toro.

Arias, Garcia, Gonzales, Taylor & Soto look very promising. That's not the same as 20 pitchers, but the MLB core looks stronger and has longer control.

There is also Romero, Bleis, Cespedes, Azocar & Gadbout, plus more about to jump the rankings.

I'm very pleased.

Jh Garcia is supposed to be a plus defender, so it seems like a waste to move him or any of our fine defensive OF'ers to another position, including our best defender, Rafaela, to 2B.

I think the obvious solution will be to maximize player value by trading a LHB Of'er this winter (Duran or Abreu) and promote JH Garcia as the platoon/4th OF'er who can also DH, some.

LF Duran/Garcia

CF Rafaela/Garcia

RF Anthony/Garcia

DH (1B?)  Garcia/ Campbell/Romy (Yoshida)

or

LF Anthony/Garcia

CF Rafaela/Garcia

RF Abreu/Garcia platoon

DH (1B?)  Garcia/ Campbell/Romy (Yoshida)

With the trade we make a massive upgrade to our rotation by packaging some prospects with the OF'er chosen to trade. (We could also trade JH Garcia, but we won't get the same return.)

Trading Duran scares the crap out of me. He is that rare player who can take over a game.  Like Abreu obviously but he seems to be the more likely candidate.

I totally get it. I love watching Duran play. He adds a dimension rarely seen by Sox fans. He's not bad on D, either.

Maybe we trade Abreu, instead. His 2 more years of control and excellent defense may net a better return, despite his issues vs LHPs. Note: Duran had a lower OPS Against LHPs at the same point in his first few PAs, so I think Wilyer will be a FT OF'er, soon- maybe for another team.

It does not look like we will make any of our 4 OF'ers a 1Bman, and it kills me to see our best defensive OF'er playing 2B, so to me, a trade makes the most sense.

The only trade we should be making involving Duran should be his jersey.  Swap out the current one for one with a "C" on it.

He is the captain.  You dont trade the captain.

is this our 2026 outfield???

Ref may not retire.

Jh Garcia might get a shot, if we make a trade, or if someone plays another position.

Arias hit a 3 run blast, last night to lead GRE to a win and possible/likely playoff slot. Drohan returned from a long IL stint.

KC had 3 hits in the Woo win.

The once highly ranked Sox prospect, Mata, is working his way towards pitching for another team, next year, or just forever being a Sox AAA pitcher. He gave up the only run in yesterday's Woo loss.

POR lost, despite Castro's 2 hits.

GRE lost, despite 0 ERs allowed by Futrell in 4 IP and 2 hits by Taylor.

SAL may get the only system win, yesterday, if they finish off their suspended game with a W. Gonzales is 3-3 (.792) and Yuten is 2-2 w a BB (.741,) so far.

When you watch González in the batter’s box, he looks really composed!! Not sure if he picking up the spin of the ball, but he does make contact

POR won to get to 2 games below .500. Holobetz, a Devers trade piece, went 6.2 IP, 4H, 2ER, 1BB, 4K (4.26) Cruz went 2.1, 0H, 0ER, 3BB, 3K. POR scored 3 runs on 4 hits & 5BB.

SAL won the suspended game as Tygart went 2.2 nice IP. Gonzales ended up with the 3 hits he had before the game stopped. Yuten & Cespedes had 2, each.

DSL Red won 10-0. (Montero & Perez pitched well.)

DSL Blue won 7-0.

3 more games just getting started: Woo, Por and Gre.

I don't remember, but he posted on his IG and he's currently at JetBlue throwing 100. 🔥

Valero has the most electric stuff I have seen in the Red Sox prospects in a long long time

Doesn't sound like a TJS, as of yet.

Woo threw Fitts, tonight. Literally. He did okay, but Sandlin and Kelly threw like crap and are trying hard to not be called up, this season. DHam coming to life in AAA.

Aita got lit up w GRE.. Taylor with 3Hits and a dinger.

The fact of the matter is you have to trade one of Rafaela/Duran/Abreu this offseason.

you have to make room for Anthony out there.

its not like you’re not going to get a haul for some of those guys.  And be well off with Anthony in there everyday
