Harrison may be dealing with a bad ankle. Seems to have been bothering him for a while.

let’s hope harrison deals with it properly and not like cutter did with his gimpy knee injury all last  off season!!!

I was wondering if they limited his innings due to the idea of a possible promotion, soon.

Maybe, but I was under the impression that they were looking to complete retool his arsenal and saw him as a project this year with their eyes towards 2026.  Only so many guys can go down before a guy who wasn't your option is your option so who knows now

He's kinda the last option, unless we cycle back to I Campbell or Moran. Is Guerrero ready, soon?

A bunch of pitchers moved up to Worcester, from Portland, but not Mullins

Maybe they felt he reached his limit for the season.

Guerrero, Song and Jack Anderson POR>WOO

Dean, Sansone, Kirwin, Riemer & Smith GRE>POR

Harrison WOO>BOS tomorrow (Who goes down: Kelly or Murphy?)

Kelly pitched an inning on the 8th

Murphy pitched an inning on the 8th and the 9th.

aren’t we allowed to keep 14 pitchers now??

I was talking about why we did not choose to promote Mulline to AAA, after the AA season ended.

Murphy was going to be demoted for Harrison's promotion, and yes, that's 14 pitchers and the limit. I haven't seen it announced, yet, and apparently Tolle starts, today- not Harrison.

Woo is looking to go above .500, tonight. Drohan has gone 4 IP, 2H, 0ER, 0BB, 2 K. His ERA is 2.13 after 4 IP. Romero has 2 hits, including a homer. Campbell has 2 hits (.823.) Toro has 2 (.850.) Hot Hickey has been walked twice.

Speaking of Mullins, he's pitching for POR tonight and struggling: 5 BB in 4 IP, 4H, 3ER and 4 Ks. Dean is doing well, so far. Erhard and Liendo have 2 hits and Miller homered.

Would have been much worse for Mullins if he had not picked off those two runners.  Just one of those games where he struggled to throw a strike with all his pitches from what I could tell.

Here are some questions that might be answered this winter or next spring:

1. Who gets protected for Rule 5? (Sandlin? Mullins? Bleis? Nobody?)

2. With Perales pitching in winter ball, will he be a MLB option in 2026?

3. Assuming Witherspoon, Phillips and Eyanson start the year at GRE, how soon might the be promoted to POR?

4. With so many pitchers drafted, signed as IFAs and traded for, who gets moved to the pen? (sp.com has Mullins in the AAA pen, Dean & Rogers in the AA pen and Foutch, Finley, Futrell, Cohen & Brooks in the A+ pen.)

5. Assuming Gio bolts and Sandoval is a healthy starter with Bello and Crochet, who gets the next 2 slots? Crawford, Dobbins or Harrison? Fitts, Tolle or Early? (Sleeper picks: Criswell, Perales or Uberstine.)

6. Does Campbell, Jh Garcia or Mayer begin the season at WOO?

7. Who will the top 20 prospects be, this winter?

1. Tolle

2. Arias

3. Early

4. Perales

5. Witherspoon

6. Jh Garcia

7. Clarke

8. Valera

9. Gonzales

10. Fajardo

11. Soto

12. Romero

13. Phillips

14. Eyanson

15. Taylor

16. Godbout

17. Uberstine

18. Paez

19. Mullins

20. Delzine/Cason/Holobetz

Others: Cespedes, Ramos, Rivas, Bleis, Sandlin,

Rule 5 is going to be tough.  I would like to protect Mullins!
But given his injury history, do we really even need to protect him???
tough call by bres-slow!!

1. I think they've added so many young pitchers at the end of this season that there's a chance they don't add anyone else. If they protect anyone, it's Sandlin, not Mullins IMO.

2. Perales has to be an MLB option as it's his last option year. Need to see what he can bring.

3. Two of the three start in GRE (prob Witherspoon and Eyanson). I think mid to late season promotions seem likely if all goes well.

4. SP looks right. I think they continue to develop Sandlin as a starter, but maybe start to treat him as a bulk guy because he throws too many pitches.

5. Dobbins and Early with Tolle in the pen as he works on his secondaries

6. Campbell and Garcia

7. Cannot predict now

I have been playing MLB the show, in franchise mode, for 5 years.  As in 5 different copies of the game, 5 real life years.  During these 5 actual years, I have gone through well over 100 in-game years, 100 rule 5 drafts. And its hard every time.  Granted the AI on trades isnt great and its too easy to get all the best prospects, which makes it sad when you have to let your B potentials get rule 5 drafted.

Woo hit like BOS, tonight. They got 3 hit. Their loss put them at 71-70.

POR is tied 4-4 late. Nothing much to report on from the farm, tonight.

Perales pitched an inning today! (0H, 1BB, 0K)

Holobetz pitched 6 (3H, 1ER, 1BB, 7K) He has a 2.39 ERA. POR lost 2-1. Arias had 2 hits (.702.)

Woo lost.

Jh Garcia homered.

Guerrero got lit up for 3 runs in 1 IP, so I'm not sure he's getting close to a call-up.

POR lost 1-0. Rogers looked good. Sansone went 3 IP from the pen (3IP, 1H, 0BB, 2K) He has a 0.00 ERA at AA.

How many games did Portland lose 1-0 in the final week of the season?  4?

The Portland pitchers were outstanding for the most part!!

the Portland hitters were completely overmatched. Arias was about the only one swinging the bat decently this past week,

Campbell, Garcia and Toro are all hitting poorly down the stretch. Nobody is making a run at a late callup.

Been watching Romero lately. Maybe he has gone homer happy, but he gets some juicy pitches to hit, he just is not putting them in play. It’s like he tries to go yard on everything!

maybe this offseason, they can work with him!!!

He's only 21.

He was rather highly regarded, whe n drafted. I think he was as high at 7th on sp.com, then nearly fell out of their top 30 mid 2024.

He's more "ML ready" than Arias, and 2B seems to be his final destination spot, IMO.

I can't see him being our 2B solution, but all hands on deck!

Romero's hit tool is fairly questionable. I think he'd be eaten up at MLB. He can punish mistake pitches, but will see less and less of them as he moves up. Want to see a full season of him absolutely mashing at AAA before he gets called up. Think he's better at 3b than 2b.

I meant to type 3B.

A few MiLB awards were announced today. No FCL All Stars or notables for the Sox. Justin Gonzales was listed as an All Star for the Carolina League.

Justin Gonzales had a nice season at Salem as an 18 year old. His discipline at the plate was very impressive especially after watching rafeala and arias. He hits a lot of ground balls and I am sure the Sox will work with him this offseason to fix that. His power is 100 percent legit. If he gets it in the air, he can turn that into extra bases.

he has a chance to be in Portland this time next year.  It was a lot of fun to watch this kid play this past year.

Roman has that heavy ground ball profile too. He doesn't have that ceiling, but I wouldn't get too worked up about the ground ball rate just yet.
