I get the first time was probably a typo, but it’s not like they’re on a winning streak and people are keeping it going because of that.

I think it was yesterday I read a longish article in the NYTimes about the transformation of MLB pitching. Smart teams and pitchers are going for K's by relying on their best pitches, which almost always means nasty breaking balls and not fast ball. The Sox tonight so far have 3 K's in 6 outs by swinging and missing at fastballs.

The inability of many Sox players to fail on hitting fastballs over the plate has been noticeable this season. They can foul them off before chasing the sweeper out of the zone, but cannot hit theFB well.

 

That should be bread and butter for most MLB'ers.
