He cares about the ones buying tickets and paying for NESN.

i am doing NEITHER AND actually am cheering for them to lose since Henry could care less about the fans. He has become SIMPLY PATHETIC but as long as people keep showing up and watching NESN and buying that rag the Globe nothing will change.

I have not been to Fenway in years.

Cheering for the Sox to lose is something I will never do.

Why don't you become a fan of another team?

JH ain't selling. He may or may not spend big, again, and apparently this is all that shows he cares, so wait it out or bolt.

It’s not up to you to tell someone to go root for another team like you have done before, or tell someone to wait it out, or bolt.

here is my projected roster to open 2025

C-Teel, Wong

1B-Casas

2B-Story

SS-Mayer

3B-Devers

Extra IF-Grissom

LF-Duran or Abreu

CF-Rafaela

RF-O'Neill or another 1 year FA signing

Duran or Abreu or Refsynder the 4th OF

I still see Anthony needing another year at AAA given his age.

Rotation: Bello

Houck

Crawford

Gioloto

Pivetta or another FA on a 1 yr deal

Bullpen--I'm not even going go there because there are so balls in the air. We are using guys I have never heard of this year with some success but I don't expect either Martin or Janssen to return so I don't even want to guess what our BP will be. This roster though should be able to compile another .500 or near record and the payroll will keep Mr Scrooge happy.

Come July, we have to find buyers for O’Neil, Jansen, pivetta and hopefully Martin!

In the offseason, need someone to be stupid and bite on yoshida’s contract.

I agree, teel needs to be promoted to Worcester now. So he can start in Boston in 2025. but we have a lot of catchers in Worcester now!

i agree with trading all those 4 although I might try and extend Pivetta for 2 years.

Extending Pivetta would be a good idea.

Especially if it is done with the goal of keeping Whitlock out of the rotation.

But, let’s face it, Whitlock is absolutely going to be in the rotation when he gets back…

Yeah, in the IL Rotation.

I never ever actively hope for the Sox to lose a game. But after the fact I'm finding that losses don't bother me much this year. Because I'm pissed at Henry, yes, and I don't really want to see his Tampa Bay North dream succeed.

Pivetta is going to reach free agency for the first time ever at his age 32 season. This might be his only chance for a payday, Someone will probably give him 4 years. It will take more than that to extend him.

He's been a horse, taking the ball every 5 days for years, until the blip, this year. I'm not sure if throwing more breaking balls is the cause, and maybe will be a concern going forward, but if doesn't miss any more starts and goes about 3.50-3.90 the rest of the way, he'll get 3-4 years from somebody.

I'd like to see us extend him and said so last winter, too.

Do you go to games at Fenway any more, 700?
I went to a couple of games last year, but I have not gone yet this year. I now pick games to see the stars of other teams, Ohtani, Soto, Judge, Gunnar Henderson etc. The Red Sox roster is not worth the price of admission and has not been for 3 years. I gave up my tickets, because Ace Tickets cut down on their inventory of Red Sox tickets. I used to sell them 65 games, and I would go to the rest.

I don't see any scenario where this current ownership and its business plan will pay an only-decent 32-year old pitcher market value through his mid-30s.

Maybe they can entice Pivetta to sign an extension if they offer an opt-out, where he can leave if he ever has an entire good season. Then he can get what the market will give him -- a salary the Red Sox will have no interest in matching.

Yeah, it's more like the price of SUBmission now.

He’s been a horse, talking the ball every 5 days for years? He had 30+ starts in 21& 22, but he only made 16 starts last year, because he sucked, and went to the BP. 🙈🤭

I’d say there are scenarios.

The Red Sox don’t pay out big anymore, but that puts them on the longer list than if they were willing to splurge once in a while. I just don’t see Pivetta really attracting the interest of the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Astros or Phillies or any team that spend like those teams. Just like how Giolito didn’t this year…

You may be right.

The Pivetta that returned to the rotation, after being demoted to the pen in 2023 and the Pivetta of 2024 looks much better than the earlier Pivetta, but the sample size is not large enough to convince GMs he is the new Pivetta and will be, going forward.

How he finishes the season may be the key.

Giolito hurt his stock by sucking over his last several starts in '23.

Only 4 pitchers last season got 4 seasons or more: Ohtani, Hicks, ERod and Nola. I don't think he's getting to 4 years.

A horse who has never thrown 180 innings.

"Horse" was not a good choice of words, but he has been our top SP'er since 2021, in terms of staying off the IL the most.

Horsier than all others?

Consider who he's been throwing with.

Indeed, and with so many one year starter signings, recently, it's no wonder he has more starts than anyone, but let's look year by year.

He entered our Rotation at the end of 2020, not right after the trade.

GS

2021

32 Nate

31 ERod

30 Pivetta (3rd in IP, 2.2 behind ERod)

2022

33 Pivetta (180 IP was far away the most)

26 R Hill (124)

23 Wacha (127)

20 Nate (109)

2023

28 Bello (157)

23 Crawford (129)

21 Houck (103)

20 Sale (103)

19 Paxton (96)

16 Pivetta (143 was 2nd in IP)

IP per GS in 2023

5.6 Bello

5.4 Pivetta

5.2 Whitlock

5.1 Paxton & Sale

5.0 Houck

4.7 Crawford

I'd still say "horsier" than all others, after 2020.
