Why would they want to save money? Why would I make a massive investment like a baseball team to save money?

Save money by not spending on players, which allows them to make more money.

We should just stop posting here then, since it's clear they won't spend and the team sucks.

I need this place to vent my frustration.

Let's hope it turns into a place to rejoice and share in some good news, soon.

Merry Christmas! Ho! Ho! HOoooOOOOO!

That's really not how it works for a team on this market.

I love you man, but that's really f***ing annoying. I come here for the baseball discourse and analysis, not the whining. I'm frustrated too, but goddamn.

because saving money is the main goal of this team

Wasn't Whitlock really, really good at the end of games not that long ago? Doesn't Houck look like a guy that'd be really good as a closer?

That's what we did between 2019 and 2020.

We failed to match the 2018-2019 spending in 2021, too. We "saved" by not buying, and the owners maybe made more money.

I think we all have vented here, at some point.

Some more than others.

Wasn't the point to get under the lux tax? No reason not to spend at least against it this year to put forth a competitive product that will overall make them more money. This ain't the A's.

If they don't spend, then complain. I understand the frustration built up over the previous few offseasons, but at least wait until after the big fish actually get away.

Are you the internet police? You don't like posts, then don't read them. You don't like certain posters, block them. No one comes here to be lectured on moral proprieties.

Whitlock hasn’t been the same since they tried to make him a starter. I thought he should get a shot at closer after his first year, but I’m not so sure now.

I agree, but let's not deny that we have been limiting spending ("saving") over the past few years.

There was a major injury in the middle of that time, so I'm not sure his decline can be fully attributed to the role change. (Not that you claimed it was the only reason.)

Royals sign Michael Wacha

One more tier 3 guy gone.

(We need better than tier 3, anyway, but he looked to be near the top of he tier 3 list, to me.)

They're dropping like flies now.

How about at least giving us a decent second baseman.

Honestly, this is a place I'd be willing to offer Tim Anderson a 1/10 sort of thing.

I'd rather we trade for Kim or Polanco and spend on quality pitching and then more quality pitching.

That would most likely have to be a trade. I don't think Merrifield really fits that bill.

No. Dude has no power anymore. Can barely hit the ball to the LFer. He's like a slow version of Juan Pierre.

Don't see them getting Kim.

Because SDP will want too much or because we don't like him enough?

How about Polanco?

Drury?

Edman or Donovan?

Cronenworth? (talk about 3 year declines)

I think Bres-slow is looking hard at the trade market

But I am not hearing about him talking to Miami????

SD would want too much for Kim. The Cronenworth contract is a nonstarter.

Polanco could be a good get.

I don't see the Cards trading Erdman at all. Donovan is a LH UTIL/OF that isn't a great 2B.

I'd trade for Drury. Not sure what it would take to get him, but I wouldn't give up much.

This FO seems better about not letting leaks out? Much quieter if that's their intent.

Not hearing much of anything. Say what you will about the Sox, but this FO runs a tight ship.
