Basically, we need you to sign an extension to buy tickets and NESN for the next decade and show patience while we draft and develop players who will become big leaguers we can pay MLB minimum to form a decent team.

 

After about 10 years, we could be pretty good for many seasons after that. If you die by then, hopefully you'll kids will take your recliner.

The "convergence" of the young positional players (aggressive player dev) taking a step forward and a build out of a talent pipeline of arms (acquired, drafted, developed internally) is the quickest path forward for a World Series? Really? TEX won one in 2 feakin' years? (moon phrase initially trademarked the day Sale was traded for)

 

Does it also seem like at the beginning of the quote that Crag expected them to be a little more all in than they currently are. "As I've gotten to know this organization better..."

It's a good thing 7 out of the first 10 games start after 9:30pm this year. Fans will already be tuned out before the game start in BOS.

Brez already said no full time DH. I'd take him at his word on that.

 

Fine, but more games at DH by Yoshida should be a good thing.

 

He started 49 games at DH in 2023.

 

Starting 80-100 could be a significant boost to our OF defense, but if it means more games in CF by Duran, that might offset that by some.

This fans about done. I've traveled across the country to watch the Sox, bought tickets, watch 60-70 % of the games on TV, buy tshirts and hats every year.... And my precious time... Worth nothing to others... But priceless to me... A team needs to be fun to watch. I will always like the Red Sox... But will likely re-invest my time actually following a team that's fun to watch- or at the very minimum makes an effort to be fun / good. Without at least one more premium arm we are just a bad team. Pitchers and catchers report in I think less than a month.....hope I'm wrong but doesn't feel they are serious about a quality rotation.

Reading that article closely and between Breslow's lines, you can quickly see what "ownership" told the CBO. "We have some good to better prospects that may mature into players in a couple years. Stay the course of internal, organic development and maybe by 2026 we will competitive with a low payroll for a few years. Then go buy a pitcher or two, but not now."

 

As Wyo says, this team is quickly becoming uninteresting and ownership is short term (2024-2025) unwilling to commit to winning.
