Hitting was the issue tonight. Anyway try and get a streak going.

 

10 hits and 4 BBs is not bad. We just missed the timely hits and ran into too many outs.

Who would you have used, knowing at the very least you have to get 6 outs to win the game?

 

Sox failed x multiple times to score guys from 3rd and couldn’t even advance Verdugo from 2nd in the top of the 10th. That’s where the game was lost.

I would not have used Ort because I would have released him 6 months ago. He SUCKS!

I get you can't win every game but you can't lose games in this Fashion. So many miscues in this game.

He only threw 9 pitches in the 9th, but if he struggles more in the 10th he might end up at 30 pitches. Still no guarantee you win, and Jansen is burned for the next 2 games likely.

I wondered why not use Pivetta over Ort. Or, frankly, a randomly chosen fan from the bleachers over Ort. But I assume Pivetta (and possibly the fan) are pitching today…

Yes indeed. Could be a throwaway game or one that Cora is willing to invest in with the bullpen.

 

I believe the Sox opening day rotation was Sale, Paxton, Houck, Kluber, and Pivetta.

 

Only Paxton remains.

 

Sale and Houck are on the IL and Kluber and Pivetta are in the bullpen.

 

Now it's Paxton, Whitlock, Bello, Crawford, and TBD.

 

Cora has the easiest managing job in MLB.

Right you are. Opening rotation was Kluber, Sale, Houck, Crawford, and Pivetta. Sale is probably out for the season. Houck should be back in July. Kluber and Pivetta are still in the bullpen (where Pivetta is a plus and Kluber a minus). And Crawford, who went to the bullpen, is now back in the rotation where in his his last 4 starts he has gone 15 innings (under 4 IP per start).

I've been pleasantly surprised with Pivetta's work out of the bullpen. One of the reasons I was down on the guy was his arrogant demeanor when asked by reporters if he was willing to go to the BP, but it seems like he's all in on the move now. The benefits of having a manager respected by his players like Cora.
