Be great to see this lineup mash the Twins once again. That would be a sweep of the first three games but not yet the series. Two more wins would equal the red Sox best string of 8 consecutives this year. But let's not get ahead of the need to win the one your playing, an inning at a time. The totals then take care of themselves.

Sonny Gray is having a decent year on a sub .500 Division leader . I'm not expecting runs until about the 5th inning, unless Devers chooses to participate early on. Gray has a 2.37 ERA, 4-1, W-L and a 1.28 WHIP with more K's than innings pitched ( 79/76).

They keep with the Kike nonsense.

You must have missed last night's double play, the best I've seen the Sox pull off in several years, catcher to 2b to 1b. Wong chose that route almost certainly because Devers was nowhere near 3b, but Kike was right on 2d base, waiting for a throw, which was a tad off (low and away) but still catchable and relayable to 1b. Just nonsense, of course.

Kike has made a few good plays at SS, but he is nothing short of horrible on D, overall at SS.

I've lost all faith in him as a SS, and as a batter, I'm almost there, too..

same here. i like his energy and enthusiasm but in the end, you've got to produce and not screw up.

You could very well be right. But he's available. At least 3 better SS's are not: Story, Chang, and Reyes. Last night Kluber went 3 innings because it made sense to use him with a 10 run lead.

I've been one of Kike's biggest supporters and fans, especially as a CF'er, but he has hit poorly for over a year, and as a SS, he is a minus-minus.

Actually, his DWAR at SS is -0.2, which is hardly calamitous. But I defer to your greater knowledge on that. My point remains: he's playing tonight in a Red Sox uniform, so why not root for him?

Wonder whether Valdez can play SS. At least he can hit. Man at least give a chance to Bobby Dalbec there lol

Six lefty bats vs. righty Gray. Duran leading off again.

i can't help but think that all of the errors have to be screwing with his head. maybe not.

I understand the bind we have at SS. I'm not sure much is gained b y playing Arroyo at SS and Kike at 2B. Arroyo would probably get hurt at SS.

Without knowing Reyes will go on the IL or not, makes the SS choice a lose-lose one. I don't blame Cora for playing Kike, tonight.

If Ryes goes on the IL, I'd play Hamilton.

There must be 35,000 empty seats. Fans just don’t have extra money to spend on sports with the sky high inflation. It’s a shame people can’t afford to take their families to baseball games. A beautiful night, the Red Sox in town, and the twins at the top of the standings in their division. Looks like Tampa Bay.

The type of environment for a player like Dalbec to have a shot at succeeding.
